I am not a picky eater. I love all of the cuisines listed. Had to vote Mexican because I eat Mexican every day. I have always lived close to the border and it infuses our lives. It is way too easy to stop at one of the many, many taco places here and grab a breakfast burrito, tacos al carbon, barbacoa, asado, etc.

I live in Florida, and we also have a lot of good side of the road stands that serve authentic Mexican food. Not sure what they are called, but we get these pork tacos that are just to die for, and their homemade sauce blows me away.

My favorite is certainly Mexican but I love it all. Chicken Korma is my favorite Indian dish and I like it Indian hot. I had a place in Huntington that served the flat bread with cherries and coconut...wow. Thai, Chinese, Japanese...I just like good food.

Voted other. Lately I've really been digging some Persian food. Polish food is second on my list because the Polish place in the Phoenix area the new owner set the kitchen on fire for insurance money. Not only did he not get his money but now I don't get any Polish food. Asshole.

I like most all of those listed. I can't say that I have one preference over the other. Howerver, I'm married to a mexican (5th generation US though) who does not cook much. However, Grandma is coming to town for christmans. I can't wait!!

I voted Japanese, being that I was raised on the stuff.

Japanese Pork Tonkatsu (with Bull-Dog brand Tonkatsu sause) is my absolute favorite food in the entire world.

I also love Shrimp Tempura, Yakisoba, Udon, Soba, Gyoza, Chicken Yakitori, Japanese Curry Rice (it's nothing like Indian curry), Onigiri, Salmon Korokke...oh, and of course the ever-popular Sushi & Sashimi.

Damn, now I'm craving some Pocky. :blob:

I'm Italian, so I'm not sure that qualifies as "ethnic" food for me. So, I'll vote for Mexican.

I'm like you, Todd. I haven't tried many ethnic foods. I should be more open minded. I have tried Thai, however. Pad Thai is a wonderful dish, a real must-try if you ask me.

I picked German because it reminds me of all of those wonderful dinners that we had at home and at the relatives growing up. I would have to say that beef rouladen is still one of my favorites!

It disgusts me to go to restaurants and they advertise "authentic German cuisine". You get there and they are serving bratwurst and saurkraut. Sometimes they will throw a rueben sandwich in for variety. Most people have very little idea what German food really is.

I lived in Germany for four years, and we would eat at these little mom and pop restaraunts that were just to die for. We also used to go on these 10 and 20 K "Volksmarches" like every weekend, and I have never found brats that match up to those that they served at the end of those hikes.

Although my dad did get this kidney stew once and tricked me into taking a bite, and it was pretty nasty.

I picked other because I didn't see southern anywhere. Fried: Chicken, Catfish, Steak, Tenderloin, Grouper, Califlower, Okra, Green tomato,...

And the non-fried vegies, collard greens, turnip greens, snap beans, red beans and rice. Then you have to throw in some low-country shrimp and grits.

Man this thread is making me hungry.

Interesting that out of 43 voters for a food category ... the French (with tons of world-renowned chefs) have been shutout. Too much butter, cream sauce and foie gras? No French fast-food places?

I voted "other" as the favorite restaurant of my wife and I serves food with Swiss and French influences. I also have fond memories of my own ethnic foods (Polish) - with my grandmother making ox tail and duck blood soups, thin egg pancakes, beef wrapped in cabbage and sweet desserts when I was young.

Italian, Mexican a close second - though I prefer socal Mexican to this Tex-Mex crap I get here in Texas. The drawback to both of the above is that neither pair well with dessert - as French seems to. However since wine and beer is a far more important consideration and wine and beer pair well with Italian and Mexican respectively the are my first and second choices.

I eat Mexican the most because my g/f is a picky eater. But, a great Chinese buffet for $5 is a deal! I hardly pass those up when I'm hungry and she's not in-tow. Although I do feel bad afterwards for eating it.
