Black as the devil, Hot as hell,
Pure as an angel, Sweet as love.
(actually I use half&half in my morning coffee, I just love that quote)

Off topic but here's another quote I like (slightly edited, LOL)
Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures:
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz:
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,
I will fear no Equal™:
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of The Black Dog:
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the House of Mochas forever.

this is not an easy answer for me anymore. Some coffees for me need a little sweetener and some are great as they are...I used to like my coffee like my women, Hot - white - Sweet! Now, it's not that simple of an answer...I have to abstain since there isn't a multiple choice on this poll.

I had to check the Sugar box cause i guess that's my normal MO, but as with cigars, sometimes ya just want something different.

Sorry, I had to....lol
I've taken mine black exclusively now for 2 years. Homeroasting makes you appreciate the flavor more AND I'm interested in how my roasts turn out...

I prefer regular sugar with 1/2 and 1/2. I never add the powder creamer stuff, would prefer black over that and the fake sugars, bleek!

I'm with Randy on this one,
Hot, Light and Sweet!
<ok, not too sweet!>
DJS,
I'd like to hear more about your homeroasting set up.

If I make the coffee (my beans and my machine) then it's naturally sweet enough not to require anything and I hate to add milk/sugar/whatever.
If I'm forced to drink "office coffee" then I usually add a little milk to make a "coffee drink," instead of regular coffee.
If it's espresso, I do enjoy some steamed milk on occasion.

Alan, I use a Convection Oven/Stir Crazy (CO/SC) setup with a variac transformer. Built it about 2 years ago and its worked great. The batch size range is between 8 oz to 1 lb with 12 oz being the optimum for evenness of the roast.

Usually a splash of milk and a dash of sugar.
I heard that cream does open up some coffees flavor?

I've been toying with setting up a rotisserie and roasting 'em. Where do you get your bean? And how do you store it before roasting?

I try them in just about any fashion. Black, w/cream, w/cream and sugar, sometimes with cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Sometimes with a healthy shot of whiskey. It's my coffee, I'll drink however I feel at the time and I usually enjoy it completely.

Black and strong, and depending on which day it is maybe a little liquor
I use Coffeemate and accidently hit creamer & sugar! Doh!
IMO it is not ruining it...I like it with cream and swettener.
Hmmm...I always use sugar when the coffee is just nasty and I still need that caffine buzz.

I heard novasurf talk about that one time. I rarely have leftover coffee to try this simply because my coffee maker is a piddly little 4-cup one.

Maybe a little Kahlua for flavor.
A few years back, on Sunday nights, after everyone had gone to bed, I would go to the porch with a cigar and a cup of coffee with a shot of Kahlua and a shot of brandy.
Now, I leave out the coffee, kahlua, and brandy and take a glass, a few ice cubes, and either scotch, bourbon, tequila, or rum.:glassesgr

Just brewed a pot of Black Dog and poured a steaming cupful into a mug with Carolans, which is a cheaper version of Bailey's, but just as good.

Black out of a French Press is the only way for me.
Same here brother I have a press and drip coffee just doesn't do it for me anymore. I probably don't even make good press coffee yet. I'm still learning the inns and outs. Plus I just recently got a burr grinder and some yum coffee from blackdog, so new stuff to get used to.
I voted "non-dairy creamer" but I use a touch of CoffeeMate French Vanilla flavored. It's a little sweet and lightens up the strong stuff a bit.If I put artificial creamer into my Blackdog Coffee mug, I think it might spit it back at me. :eyebrow:
