No kidding. If I can get a few limit orders filled early enough in the morning I may not end up terrible shape. If you're trading index trackers you need a drink right now. Bad.
Edit: unless you knew something we didn't.

thankfully i have had some money in gold for the past year, which has been REALLY nice..
I got up this morning and looked at the Asian markets and the after hours trading, and got the hell out for the day... lost about .5% before i could sell but still not bad considering...

Talk about taking it in the short side. But considering the fact that I didn't buy or sell anything, I'm hoping this was a correction that will resolve itself and my losses will even out. At least I hope that.
A pretty big drop for the Dow. I was shocked to see it drop so much.

You really only lose or gain money when you sell. The rest of the time it's 20/20 hind sight, wishful thinking, and woulda; coulda; shoulda. Retirement accounts are always long term (unless you're retired), corrections and spikes are going to happen. It'll be interesting to see what China does with its government control on their market and how it will affect the global economy. I'm not too concerned over today. I'm more concerned with Alan Greenspan spewing recession talk.

He's retired! Why is anyone still listening to him?

Amen Dub.

Because he's Alan Greenspan.

cause the asians lost again
Actually, I did not do too badly. Most of my money is in international funds with limited Asian exposure. I have been avoiding the American market since the returns have been far higher in the international sector, but you cannot be risk averse.
