So, this is on for Thursday night (5/17) 10 PM EST, and on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 10 PM EST. We will need 10 players so sign up here. Buy-in is $5 plus 5 good cigars (at least $5 and over). There will be a 50/30/20 payout and the winners will keep their 5 cigars. So 1st place recieves 20 cigars, 2nd gets 10 and 3rd will receive 5.

Once you commit, you are in and will be responsible for payment of fees etc, unless an alternate can be found before the starting time.

Please arrive early (like 15 minutes before gametime) just so there is no confusion on how to get on the table etc.

I'm sure there will be tons of questions so post them here.

1. Fredneck send to gpugliese PAID
2. Tedski send to gpugliese PAID
3. mwilson788 send to gpugliese PAID

In this week and thanks for setting this up Greg. Thursday will be hit or miss most months, so I better join when I can.

I missed it, but why is there $5 in fees and whom does this go to? Thought was a free set up at BOTL. Also whomever wins third should just keep their sticks vs mailing to someone else.

How are the blinds and how often do they go up?

tedski
05-15-2007, 12:25 PM
Yes - and who gets the other 15 cigars?

There will be 50 cigars in the pool.
1st place gets 25 (4 fivers plus their own)
2nd place gets 15 (2 fivers plus their own)
3rd place gets 10 (1 fiver plus their own)

$5 fee is for me, just kidding, this goes to Eric...I don't think it's free.

Will post more on the game format once I figure that part out

The $5 goes to pay for the cost of having the Poker tables. It costs almost $50/month to have the regular table and the tourney table from pluginpoker.com.

Blinds are 5, 15, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 for each 10 hands. 2000 point buyin and starting chip stake.

In addition, the tournament table will be password protected to prevent anybody from accidently joining if they aren't signed up.

 That is a lot of dough for us to be horsing around. Thanks for the heads up on the blinds and structure.

Will have to pass for the first tourney, damn. I'll do my best to be ready for next month's now that I know when it will be. Gotta say, not all that excited about the 10pm time slot. But I didn't vote one way or the other so...

Greg
05-15-2007, 01:39 PM
Shoot, is 10pm EST too late for everyone?

I was trying to create a time that would be best for East Coast as well as the West Coast.

Would 9pm EST be better?

I will be up I am not worried about it... and I have not even signed up so I cant really speak on the matter..

But I say start this one at 10 see how it goes, if it goes too late then move it to 9 for the next one..>

I wish I could play but for the next couple of months I dont have the internet at the house so I will have to pass until I move.

Jwrussell
05-15-2007, 02:09 PM
The way it is set up, with 10 people, a long tourney would be 1.5 hours. Most likely you'll be done in an hour.

I understand the East Coast deal. I've been playing on another weekly tourney online with some guys that starts at 10pm and it's just late for me on a "school night". That being said, you will never please everyone, so I'll make it when I can. GL everyone!

Regardless if we have one this month, Dad and I will still contribute to the fees...$50 a month for a plug in is pretty hefty and seeing as how we have been playing quite a bit and have really enjoyed it it is the least we could do.

So, who sends cigars to whom?

Ultimately, 7 of us will be sending 5 cigars to the top 3. 4 of will send to first place, 2 will send to second place and one will send to third place.

To make it easy, I will determine who sends what to whom.

Are we going to allow any splits? Just want to know before we get to that point.
Do you mean split pots? If so, then yes, the program figures that out.

Jwrussell
05-17-2007, 06:14 PM
No, I mean once we are down to the people "in the money" are we allowing for them to "split" the winnings if they so desire. I'm not fussed either way, just curious.

Greg
05-17-2007, 06:19 PM
I guess that would be up to them, though maybe that should be handled via PM.

Jwrussell
05-17-2007, 06:29 PM
That's a little cumbersome to be honest Fred. Really something that needs to be handled via chat right then and there. And typically it'll only be first and second. I only ask because it's very common at the home games I play at.

jwintosh
05-17-2007, 06:32 PM
ignorance here,,, what do you mean 'split?' like, offer the losers, i mean, those who place 4-10th some?

Jwrussell
05-17-2007, 06:38 PM
No, let's say you and I are the final two and we have fairly even stacks. A split would be us saying, well, let's just both take 15 cigars instead of playing it out and one of us getting 10 and the other getting 20. Obviously we'd still play everything out because the software is going to run that way, but you basically are guaranteeing a certain number of smokes to each.

Eric
05-17-2007, 08:40 PM
Jason, if both players mutually agree in the chat, then I don't see any problem with that.

Everyone has been PM'd the tourney table password

Jwrussell

Shouldn't third just keep their five to save on shipping?

Either way, just shoot everyone a PM once all is said and done.
