Montesino, the forgotten line made by Fuente. Ditto Sosas. From Havana, Saint Luis Reys are generally known only by serious cigar smokers, but are excellent (or so I have been told, in case anyone from the government is reading this post...).

I still love CC Fonseca Delicias. Often overlooked amid the bigger brands but smooth and tasty. Vegueros aren't quite as good, but offer a taste a little different than the usual.

Yep, REO's are made by Rocky Patel. Do you mean Don Barreto? I've had plenty of their robustos, decent smoke.

Glad you liked the brotto. Was it a blue or a red? Blue's Dominican, red's a Nic, though I can't find much more about them online. They run about $5 Canadian up here, most of which is tax. If you can find them down your way, they're probably a $2-3 stick.

One of my favorites is the Rocky Patel Vengeance. Very unknown, at least here in California. I can seem to only get it by ordering from the Chicago & Wisconsin shops. It is a Rocky Patel Blend but doesn't say it anywhere on the band or box, Just Vengeance.

FILLER: Brazil
BINDER: Brazil
WRAPPER: Brazil: Connecticut Shade/ Mata Fina (maduro)
ORIGIN: Bahia, Brazil
Dona Flor cigars are the creation of Felix Menendez, son of one of the most famous cigar manufacturers of all time, Alonso Menendez. Alonso Menendez gained eternal fame as the creator of the Montecristo brand and majority owner of the H Upmann factory in Cuba in the days before the Castro revolution. After the new government’s seizure of the factories in 1960, the Menendez family, mistakenly thinking the revolution to be temporary, fled Cuba to Miami. It was soon apparent that they had lost their Cuban business forever, so they tried to rebuild it in Spain, rolling cigars using the Montecristo mold. For a short time, they succeeded in creating cigars, some of which president J.F. Kennedy was reportedly fond of.
As wages declined in Spain after Franco’s demise, Felix Menendez settled in Brazil in the early 1970s. Choosing to locate near the fertile land of Recanavo (Bahia region) he founded a cigar making company with Brazilian partner Mario Amerino. Dona Flor and its sister brand Gabriela (named for characters created by the Brazilian novelist Jorge Amado) were created and are now the leading brands in Brazil.
Flavouring of the Connecticut shade cigars is mild with complex spices, while the Mata Fina is much more full bodied with moderate spicy undertones. Each burns smoothly with a more aromatic character than many cigars – two factors which have made it popular in European countries such as Germany.
These Brazilian puros (one of the only on the market) feature pure aged Mata Fina tobacco and are available in a sun-grown Maduro wrapper to yield a delectably smooth yet robust taste, or a Connecticut shade-grown wrapper for a more subtle, yielding flavour.

There is a new kid on the block and if you don't buy it then you are passing up on an opportunity that you won't find often. This is cigar is by a new Company called Avalon Cigars and the one I just smoked is called Honeyboy.
http://www.avaloncigars.com/
You have to use the contact info to get the pricing and it is SO new it is not in any cigar stores... I was introduced to them by a friend of the owner. He sent me some cigars... they are the best cigar I have had in a long time. They are aged in green pecan wood instead of cedar. Write Tom Ramsey for pricing, you will NOT be sorry, I just had one and it knocked my socks off... they are worth every penny charged for them and though I am new to cigars this one is going to go far.
Very tasty, unique and with an aftertaste you will not want to go away.
The cigar started off smooth, then became slightly peppery with a hint of oak, half way in it became more peppery with a slightly nutty taste. I purposely hot-boxed it but it did not turn bitter. It burned evenly, and I smoked that baby to the nub.
Not only is it beautifully constructed but the packaging, band, foot wrapper and overall construction are gorgeous.
I have not been wowed by a cigar that I had never heard of before... you will not be sorry at all you tried it. You will even ask your cigar store to stock it, I promise you.

I'd like to mention St Luis Rey from Altadis. They don't get a lot of press but it's a good solid cigar with pretty bold flavor. Not too expensive either...
Here's a quickie of a review I wrote a while back (snip):
The SLR corona is in a similar flavor catagory as the Cubanidad Churchill I reviewed quickly yesterday; its flavor is predominantly dark and rich. It begins with a core of round, creamy nuttines with a hints of dark chocolate, leather and very slight earth; as it progresses, chocolate takes on a more coffee-like character, leather becomes most prominant, followed by earth and some spice while maintaining that round creamy/nutty flavor at its center.
In the 5 or so that I've burned so far about 3 had some unsual issues with the cap: after cutting, the cap would fall off entirely as if it weren't glued on. I opened the last cigar with my teeth to try and avoid this. The wrapper isn't terribly oily or pretty but it does have some sparkles (after about 10 mo.s of humi time), a nice hearty colorado color (very red) and a certain rustic charm. Generally they burn well with only a few odd touch-ups necessary.
Highly recommended for those who look for plenty of bang for the buck. I know another box is in my future once I finish this one.
Cross references: if you like HC H2K or Broadleaf, Torano Exodus Gold, Oliva MB1, Salazar, you probably should like this cigar because of its similar approach at a lower price point.

Ditto on the SLR's. Also Gisperts. I am usually a maduro guy, but for some reason, I prefer the natural wrapper on both of these. BTW, the Belicoso is the best of the (legal) SLR line, IMO. Great flavor, but they do seem to build up a lot of tar compared to other cigars, so I end up purging them a lot.

I am a big fan of Ovation from Alec Bradley. The Monarch Cameroon is my favorite, nice spicy start, followed buy med. - full flavor to the nub.
The Maduro is one of the best looking smokes I have seen to date.
All the varieties burn well with a nice firm ash that is hard to knock off.
And there is the long answer to the short question.
Thanks for listening.

My friend gave me a Lone Wolf cigar the other day and it was a pretty decent smoke. Heck, even if it wasn't a decent smoke, Walker Texas Ranger is one of the owners, so you gotta love 'em! I don't know how well known they are, but I had never heard of them.

Hmmm...
I would submit the following:
Taboo Cigars - If you haven't tried them you should!
http://www.taboocigars.com
Avalon Cigars - another low key albeit new cigar, cured in green pecan, adds a distinct flavor to the mix!
http://www.avaloncigars.com/
Arganese - Another new one but quality smoke!
http://www.arganesecigars.com/
Frank Vincent Cigars - I found these recently and would have to say for a mildish cigar they are quite complex in flavor!
http://www.frankvincent.com/bio.htm
Ted's made by Hand - Not very well known, pricey a bit on the mellow side.

A couple of years ago when I was driving the big orange pumpkin (A.K.A Schnieder), I had the opportunity to stop at the JR outlets in NC. A very nice looking lady recommended the JR Cuban Alternative Monte Cristo #2, this is now a staple in my humidor. A Nicaraugan blend with a very bold taste. Great value, $28 for bundle of 20, can't go wrong. I probably jinxed myself now, these cigars occasionaly sell out. Enjoy brothers.

The Mayorga Hi Octane. I can usually get a box or 27 for $45 or so. They sell on CI/cbid and a few other sites, it's a coffee company that decided to put their name on a cigar. I've been buying every once and while for 5 years now.

If you can find them, Medal of Honor by JR. There were 6 or 8 different ones: 3 or 4 sizes and natural or maduro. He named each one after buddies of his in the industry who had passed on.
With a backstory like that, you know Lew wasn't going to let them suck.

Ditto on the SLR's.
Ditto the Ditto.
Picked up a 3-pack of SLR Serie G Nat Beli's a couple of weeks just because they looked great. Only had one so far, so the jury is still out, but man, I was impressed. Great smoke all around; first class construct, lots of smoke and full of flavor - not spicy, but 'rich'.
I don't see too many of these available online, but if the next two are anything like the first, I'll be picking up plenty more.

Has anyone had experience with Moore & Bode cigars of Miami? I have been smoking this boutique cigar literally daily for about 15 years. I have smoked everything can get my hands on, but I have not found anything comparable. They have two blends, Miami and Flamboyan. I have no use for the Miami (too mild), but I love the Flamboyan. Their production has been erratic over the years, so much so that every time I find a reliable retail source, they eventually drop them because of supply problems. However, I usually just call the factory (Sharon Moore-Bode, the owner, always answers the phone), and immediately ships me whatever I want, freshly rolled. I have been truly amazed over all of these years that they have not received more attention or any reviews.
