Well, what is everyone listening to lately? When I'm not listening to the Wiggles with my 3 year old, I have been listening to a lot of Debussy lately. Very unlike me, most classical music I listen to involves copious amounts of loud brass playing. Maybe I'm mellowing in my old age now that I just turned 40.

So what's your favorite Wiggles song? "Hot Potato"? or maybe "Fruit Salad"?
Sorry, I have a 17 month old who absolutely loves to watch the Wiggles in the morning. Glad to see someone else shares in the musical vacuum of the early am.

Oh yeah...on the normal music front, I've been listening to the new Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Groovehogs (growing in popularity), and the regular standbys of Godsmack and a few others (usually after a long day of work).

For some reason I have been listening to some old songs by the Police , thanks Todd.

Both - like some of the big band stuff, too - Like Dorsey, Miles Davis, Goodman, Dizzy, Marsalis, Glenn Miller, Monk, etc. Was listening to Maynard scream on the way home yesterday.

Still in a blues phase ... been listening to Mississippi John Hurt ... he's a kin to Robert Johnson... simple acoustic guitar. and three finger picking.
For more current tunes I'm been listening to Drive By Truckers and Old Crow Medicine Show.
For great jazz with lots of brass I would recommend some Stan Kenton. A bit different but some tremendous charts... this ain't Moonlight Serenade. Maynard Ferguson got his start with him.

Not sure John. They don't use the "the future of rock and roll" tag, but could still be related I suppose.

Now there's a great list of players. (I haven't picked up my trumpet in a few years...maybe I should dust it off and find somewhere to play again) I've seen Maynard in concert several times, along with Tower of Power. I'm personally also a big fan of Arturo Sandoval.

Lately I have been listening to http://magnatune.com/, they have streaming downloads you can listen to anytime, and if you feel like it, you can buy the mp3s or you can order the CDs.
It is all independent artists, and it is legal. Some of the stuff doesn't appeal to me, but that is true of all music.
You should try it out, you might find something you like.
I'm working on 4 gigs of music right now. Do you mainly keep singles or the whole album? If a friend lets me borrow a CD, then I'll just d/l the whole CD even if I only want 1 song.

I have a 3 year ol d as well and I listen to my fare share of the Wiggles. But I listen to a lot of stuff all over the cart.
KORN,Bestie Boys,Staind, System of a down, Tool..... I think you get the hard stuff. Plus I love old 80's metal, Ratt, Ozzy, Iron Maiden, WASP, and so on, Country, Jazz, realy any thing but opera. Plus I like sugestions I like finding new stuff.

I just discovered Imogen Heap. Her music is not what I typically like, but I am hooked on these two songs. She's a great singer/songwriter and she's into sequencers and vocoders and the like. If you don't like these, at least give the second one, "Hide and Seek" a chance on the bridge, which comes about 2:53 in the song.... Enjoy.

I have been wearing out the new Linkin Park cd, Minutes to Midnight. Pretty good CD. They have a little more of a rock style this time and the beats have a sound more like their original albums. Very little rock rap or what ever you call that style on this one.

I wish I could find a copy of the album cut to post, but this version is cool:
YouTube - THE HANGDOGS Monopoly on the Blues 1994
Well folks still call it Main Street, but it don't look too main no more
Just some redbrick mausoleums whitewashed panes and boarded doors
And it still runs into old U.S. 13 a few blocks down
But now days U.S. 13 turns to dirt just south of town
There's still a bank on Main Street so you can take out one more loan
Post office keeps a zip code for young folks to write back home
And the fire engine's still on call when there's someone round to drive
But other'n that, all that's left is this tumble-down old dive
(CHORUS 1)
But when the dark comes down on Main Street and the streetlights try to shine
We unlock that front door and light up that old neon sign
And it tells folks if they're looking, man, we still got beer and booze
Folks ain't got much around here no more
Just some memory and the drink we pour
And this side of that door we got ourselves a monopoly on the blues
Old Don he used to sell us all our groceries cross the street
Till the SuperValu opened up down in the county seat
And Little Joe he would've taken over Big Joe's hardware store
Till the bank it beat him to it and put a padlock on the door
And the Legionaires come around Wednesday nights since the Legion Hall burnt down
And we hear about their wives and wars and buy em a couple rounds
And on Friday nights the farmer's sit and bitch about the drought
They been bitching here forever, now they're talkin' 'bout selling out
Janey's kept her looks since graduating a few years back this June
Now she stares up out the window, past the neon at the moon
When the cash dried up for college she came home to live for free
And work a register at the Wal-Mart down in the county seat
(CHORUS 2)
But sometimes she stays till closing and she turns off that old sign
And I'll walk her to her parents' house or sometimes home to mine
Someday I 'spose I'll figure we got nothin' left to lose
Folks ain't got much round here no more
But the best is still this side of that door
And I'll offer her a cut of this
Monopoly on the blues
