Anyone like the .357 Sig round?

Was thinking about getting a .357 sig barrel for my Glock 23. Just curious if anyone thinks that there is an advantage with the .357 sig round as to the .40 S&W round:scratchhe

It's a nice personal protection round. But not a great target round ($$$). I like the idea and I almost bought one for my 23 but I couldn't get past the price of the ammo. I do a lot a target shooting. The .357 sig round sure is a lot faster, tears a nice hole, and is pretty damn accurate.

I have a ported 357 Sig barrel for my .40 Sig P229. I love the round but don't shoot it a lot at the range due to the cost. I'll put a few clips through but not much compared to the amount of .40s I can go through. Excellent ballistics, hard hitting, flat and accurate. I'd like more options in what I can easily find. Maybe if it continues to gain more supporters.

Well, the smart assed answer would be the Secret Service, TX DPS, the Air Marshalls, and many of State Police forces ;-). They use them because of the enhanced ability to penetrate and tap barricaded suspects. I owned an SAXD 4" chambered in that calibre and while I enjoyed shooting it, it did have a helluva punch to it, and I would not feel comfortable carrying it for defensive purposes. Waay to much possibility of over penetration (which is why I can't understand the Air Marshalls using it). This round, as has been stated is expensive, and it is not yet widely available. I prefer to keep my weapons in calibres that I can find anywhere, any time (.45ACP, 9mm, .223, 12ga.) the only exception being my .338. If the shit ever hits the fan, I want to be able to pick up a magazine off of whomever is laying nearest to me, slam it home in my weapon, and drive on. Not a real likelihood with .357Sig.

I shot one about 8-10 years ago on an IALEFI course in NJ; deadly accurate at 15 yards.

Would I buy it? Sure.

Well said, I have never even seen a box of ammo for one of these anywhere but at the gunshow.....
