I've thought about it, but have yet to pull the trigger. I find the samplers from the brothers here tend to be driven by thier likes and not business purposes. .02

I sort of do my own, informal cigar of the month (or week). I try to mix something new into my rotation, either by buying a single or smoking a stick that someone gave me, at least once a week.

That would be good, however I don't have too much time to get my local shops to look at what is new, and when I do I am a creature of habit, I will usu go for the same thing over and over and only get a new stick every so often.

The 8 cigar pack (four brands 2 of each) from Cigars International. 1st month $34 and then the rest are $30/month.

That is a good idea!! there may be some smokes in there we would never try otherwise.
I did cigar of the month with CI for a year.
Upside
It was fun.
I got to try many cigars
It seemed cost effective.
Downside
CI acquires many brands for bulk sales that are (ahem) less than stellar.
About 30% of the cigars I received, I had already tried.
If I was going to do it again I would find a site that did fivers and try a different fiver every month based on recomendations. In fact, that is pretty much what I do now except its boxes. :innocent:

I am sorry to hear about that.
I did the Cigar of the Month with cigar.com for about 2 years. It was great when I was a newbie, because I got to try a lot of different brands that I wouldn’t have gone out to buy for myself. Then their selection got a little redundant from month to month and I wasn’t happy with the brands I was getting. I would recommend it to someone just starting out.

It would be nice if there was a version of it that sent you something not so common or something that just got released so you can try it.
CI has some good cigars but sometimes they get stuff that the makers no longer produce, or just have too much of, or whatever. They seem to repeat a lot in their samplers so its not too surprising that the cigar a month is kinda like that. More variety than JRs though (do they even have a cigar a month thing?)
I am sorry to hear about that.

Like Chuck said...
I did it for 3 or 4 month, seemed ok, most of the smokes were go, there was a few that were the best of taste, CI does a good job of sending write ups of each Cigar. Good luck
I am going to join the Cigar club at Cigar.com I think. I just want to open myself up to other brands.
That and I was listening to their radio show and they were talking about sending a certain stick to the club that is very hard to get, and this seems to go on every few months or so.
Just as a suggestion, get four guys together and do a group buy of a box a month. Look to the board for suggestions.
You will make three new friends
You will try cigars that people are suggesting as one they like
You get trader ratings
The cost is very similar
No dogs

I would be interested in teaming up on a "box-o-month", if anyone else is interested. Nc's or CC's. Fire it up.
