Hello everyone! I would like to take this opportunity to talk about the newest (and best) cigar price indexing page on the internet. You can find it at http://thecigarspider.com. The Cigar Spider indexes many of the best cigar retailers and compares their prices side by side, right down to the price per stick. The Cigar Spider is brand new, so I'm interested in getting some feedback. What do you like about it, what could be better, am I missing a great retailer? Let me know what you think.
Thank you,
Brad Werth

BTW, I'm adding BOTL in the forums section today. I hadn't been here before today, but it's a nice spot.

You asked for feedback, so here's what I've got.
1) The page needs to be limited at the right end, instead of trailing off into the distance. Most people do not want to scroll sideways at all.
2) The different cigars should be separated better. Again, too much sideways room is used (wasted) so that the eye does not follow from the name of the vitolas and the prices, and vendors. And box or 5-pack is jumbled together.
3) Too much fealty to the single line per entry concept, which makes the thing hard to read.
All that being said, the really important thing is the database. If you spider enough to have fresh data, and not so frequently that the vendors make life difficult for your spiders, that info is in demand. The presentation, which still needs a lot of work, can AND WILL ALWAYS be improving, but the data is what will sustain you. If it is fresh info, and accurate, I think you have something good here. The only other thing like this I know of, from the cigar cyclopedia people, takes too long to load and is so old technology, so web 1.0. Get your Ajax humming here, and you could definitely have a winner. IMHO, natch.

It would be nice to have the Link direct you to the cigar you are searching for not just the website. Also, when the prices were last updated. Some of the cigars have more than 1 entry. The impression that I get from the home page is that I will be seeing the lowest prices not the lowest 2 prices. My .02.

There is already a place that has what I am looking for. The Adobe link is so large it did not open at my home PC. If you click on the link there will take a minute or two the file is so large, updated weekly.

Well then once you get it open you should just print it, hell, it's only 249 pages!

First, I would like to thank you all for you feedback. I will be using your ideas to improve the functionality of The Cigar Spider for everyone.

It does for all but 1 site. They use post data and don't accept posts from other sites, there is nothing I can do about this.

One of the biggest reasons the Cigar Spider came about is because of the shortcomings discussed here.
Also, when the prices were last updated.
Right on the homepage, dude. Usually, several times per day.
Thanks again, and I look forward to more great feedback.
Thanks,

Based on feedback from another forum, I have changed the domain name to something a little more memorable (fewer Is and Os). You can now find The Cigar Spider at http://thecigarspider.com/ (go figure). I have also added a merchant, Holt's Cigar Company. They come highly recommended. Thanks.
