Okay so a few weeks ago i bought a few sticks from a guy on craigslist....

i know i know probably not the smartest thing but the guy had ALOT of nice sticks in his cabinet......

But anyway one of the boxes was a sealed box of super belicosos opened them a few days ago and they were superb (had 05 written on the bottom) and i only paid msrp :halfgrinw

BUT i also bought 40 some "double robustos" singles with no box/no cello but nice, tight, 100% real bands..... at a price almost to good to be true aka less than msrp.... 10 bucks a stick.

He said they were from a shipping box and that he pulled of the cello for storage. He said he smoked a few and didnt care for the size, so decided to get rid of them. Since i was so astonished by the price i decided to buy them against my better judgment.

When i got home i checked the size and they did match up, 5.75 x 52 (how can you not like that size :crosseyed )

So they have been sitting but decided to take one out and smoked it at a friends house earlier in the evening. And i cant tell, crazy right, 70% wants to say its real but the other 30% is hesitant.

It did have a nice tight band that pealed off perfectly after a few puffs, a nice wrapper, excellent burn (didnt touch it up once), nice triple cap, nice and tight, no imperfections or soft spots i could see or feel..... BUT the flavor was maybe medium to full. Not the usual onslaught of full bodied heaven i am used to.

I dont have any pictures of the stick i smoked but i did take a few of another, and a picture of the band from tonight.

Anyone else ever have a opus act this way?

I might have to put a few of these in some bombs in the future and let some other brothers help decide :halfgrinw

The band def. looks legit. The problem with Opus fakes from what I have researched is that they almost always use original bands, unlike cc's which often have counterfeit bands. You will see them on ebay, dirt cheap with real bands and all, but you know they are fake. If you could get another one that is vintage correct you might be able to compare.

I agree with this statement. The bands are good. The sticks? Couldn't tell you from those pictures, but I'd be a little hesistant too because of the tremendously good price. Sounds like the problem demands more research.

It could be many things. Poor storage, maybe the sticks are fakes.

One good lesson, always trust your vendor. If the price is too good to be true, USUALLY it is.

Did you like the cigar?????

That is the important part.... IMHO, that is.

i would think the wrapper would be a dead giveaway. Compare it to one you know to be authentic. I think it would be pretty tough to duplicate that DR wrapper, as i believe the fuentes are the only ones growing it. i could be wrong. plus that prelight draw from an opus is unmistakeable.

i'd like to see what wade as to say on the issue.

As always, toss one my way and i'll let you now for sure.

I am no expert at this so take this with a grain of salt. The wrapper and cello look real and if they smoked well and you liked them. Then IMHO you did ok. On the other hand, I have found that if I want real... buy or trade here!

could be real could be fake but if you like them then its ok.
