I told him I was very interested, and that My grandad would love these. I told him if we could work out shipping i would not hagle his price. Once he calls i'll take notes on the conversation. I plan on asking if that is the limited edition glass topped box. Of course where he got them and where they have been stored. and so on. Then I'll flame on him for selling fakes.

That might be possible, We record almost everything we say here. Indivdual files. We can pull up a conversation from 6 weeks ago by time and date and extension and listen to it. I'll see if the boss willlet me have it. Oh this might get to be better than I thought. I have blasted on the ebay and craigslist fakes before, just to pass the time. I'll see what I can do.

Just keep in mind that it there is a possibility that the guy has been duped himself. Just a thought.

Ok just got off the phone with him. He said that is a picture of the acctual box, and that he just bought toomany last time he was in Cuba. He's going back in May and wants some of the new stuff. I asked if he had ever acctually smoked a real cuban cigar, and he said yes, these, all the time. He said he has a big humidor he keeps everything in. I asked if he had anything else to get rid of and he said this was all he had. I then began to expalin that they are fake, and he acted surprised, and said it was a bummer. I then asked if wanted to remove his ad from craigslist or if I should call the Feds, then hung up on me. Since he responded from his work email, I think I may drop a dime on him. This guy did not get duped, he does not have a humidor, he does not smoke cigars. The pictures he posted are from a site that explains the glass top boxes are fake.

If this guy is up on the differences in fakes ... then he surely knows about glass-top boxes. :stickbeat

I gave him this link just to back up what I had said;
http://www.shortcut-cigars.com/en/content/counterfeit_cigars.htm
His reply;
Thanks that is an awesome website
However, there are reall glass cased Cohibas, the ones shown there are fakes and you can tell by the quality of the letters and the labels on the box,
Also the print and cut of the cigars,
I’ve been around them for many years almost since I can remember,
But I just like to smoke them perhaps Ill smoke these too,
Thanks for the tip
J
my reply;
Not to argue, But Cohiba has NEVER released a glass topped box. I am versed on the subject to say the least. I knew these were fake the moment I saw the add. It really is not right to sell these for $450. If you add is still up tomorrow I will report it to the authorities.
I know I may not be as versed as you guys, but i figure your say so goes as truth.

If this jerk did actually go to Cuba, he may have bought these off the street. All kinds of "Deals" on the island. A guy I worked with took a trip in 03 (TJ to Mexico City to Havana) and he brought back some Esplendidos that he bought in a neighborhood. They smoked and tasted pretty darn good but, he paid a C note.

Hell, the janitor at my last place of business was an ex-Cuban national. When it was still allowed for them to travel back and bring things back with them he used to bring boxes of cubans and sell them to the guys I worked with. No storage to speak of, he just carted them around until he could sell them. Must have been about 4 years ago he offered me what he had recently gotten from "his cousin". Funniest thing I've seen. Two out of the three boxes were for cigars that didn't even exist.
