Species of Sharks

I’m aware of a few different sharks, but was wondering how many different cigar makers used this profile and in how many different varieties. I know of:

AF Anejo #77 with Maduro wrapper
AF Anejo #77 with Cameroon wrapper= Sand Shark
AF Opus X Shark with Natural Wrapper – not sure if Maduro as well
AF Don Carlos Shark (thanks John/Vitolas.net)
AF Opus X Shark Fin "A" (thanks daniyal) although I think Shark in name, but not a round to square press cigar.


What am I missing and do I have these correct?

Thanks, leaned about one more, I like that sight, but they tend to only have the higher end rare stuff. I'm guessing some others have copied the idea.

A shark is a round to square profile. Foot is box pressed into a square, but the box press dosn't extend all the way up to the tip that is a torpedo or belicoso shape. They are unique, you'll know one if you see one. The Vitolas web site has pictures of some.

Sorry gotta Jack it again....F SHARK WEEK!!!! Stupid shows make me scared of sharks for the rest of the year. Then as soon as I get relaxed about 11.5 months later...Boom Shark week shows up again.


I have had a couple of Anejo Sharks and was very impressed, not only with the shape, whichis very cool, but the flavor and smoothness were also someting worth writing home about

The sharks just hit my radar recently. I've never had one and they tend to cost about double what the standard sizes do, so I've never chased one. For some reason I've gotten hooked on the shape of late or maybe just the hype I don't now. Not sure I even have a need to try one, it's just my OC personality finding something to think about.

Hard to believe that nobody other than AF makes one. Can't imagine it's that hard to do.

The tip is like a standard torpedo coming to a single sharp point, and just in front of the tip is a round body like on a standard torpedo as well, but as you progress to the foot it gradualy goes from round to square.

I love the sharks! Great flavor, but I have had many, many burn problems with them.

Never really had one either. I've seen the anejo sharks (#77 with the maduro wrapper) at a few places. The shape is certainly intriguing, but the price of $18 each makes me shy away a bit. I don't like spending $18 on one cigar.

This much i do know, the sharks are more prevalent in the winter months as that's when they are distributed, christmas i think, and up here in the north, cigars sales drop slightly due to non-smoker friendly weather. (Some guys ahve to stand outside to smoke)

No you don't want to pay $18 for them. I think the MSRP on them is way less. They are only released once a year in the winter around Christmas. Call Tampasweethearts. Donna will sell them at MSRP, but you can only buy like two at a time and you have to purchase $25 worth of regular crap first. They are really good, but have some burn problems in my experience. They are awesome though.

I will keep a look out at my local shop in the winter, they sell them at a good price. i will see if I can get you a few.

I've had a brother offer to send me one to try, so I'm gonna get a chance to scratch this itch with an Anejo very soon. Depending on how much I like it I may end up in trouble wanting more or having to try them all. Crazy how a size and shape can reel me in so strongly. I think it beats at the heart of why I smoke cigars. It's one of the most selfish thing I do in my life and I allow myslef to be as hopeful and obsesive as a kid at Christmas about it.

Dam, you did and I didn't catch it. I thought it was a #55 when I got it. I thought it was strange not to have the cedar. Wow, looking at one, the shape is not a pronounced as I expected, I thought they went to a rectangle and looked more like a taper from the top. They are very round to square as stated in many places.

How did you miss that Mitch? It's the only cigar I've ever seen shaped like that. Like you I had an itch that I needed to scratch too after hearing about these for so long. I ended up buying four of them from a brother here. I'll probably smoke one to mark my 25th birthday. We'll have to compare experiences.

Didn't take it out of the celo when I got it, I thought I knew what it was at a glance. I even held it up next to a #55 to compair size and the shape didn't jump out at me. I feel very blond right now.
