What is up with box pressed cigars? It there a reason for it?
Maybe I am just such a newbie I am missing something....... I just don't get it.

I found the following with a simple Google:

"Box-pressed" or "square-pressed" is when the cigars are literally "pressed" into the box so the box pressure creates a perfectly square shape. This was done originally to save shipping space and as a result, the process supposedly causes the cigars to burn longer, giving the smoker a more flavorful smoke."

Really, it comes down to two things...

1. A different feel when you smoke it. Some people love the feel of a box pressed cigar in there mouth.

2. A slightly different taste. You'll get a different relationship of wrapper to filler just like you would get a different relationship between a lancero and a churchill. Some people like it some don't.

I like the way they feel better, but I can't say I've noticed a taste difference either

Dressed box cigars might be a little under filled so they can get that nice pressed look when they go into the box. Other than that, it's just a square cigar.

Know this got me thinking. Are there any CCs with either a box press or slight box press(like the VSGs). I don't know much nor do I read about CCs so you guys that live on the dark side let us know.

I do like a box press every once and a while. They're usually Padron 64s or 26s though. Come to think of it I don't believe I really have any others that are box pressed.

The way they are able to box press the cigar is to under fill it, as far as I understand. That would mean you get more of the wrapper in the flavor profile of the cigar.

Plenty. There are alot of them that you can get with or without the box press depending on how you buy them. Alot of the 25 count boxes (see those that are not Slide Lid Boxes) are box pressed, whole the cabs, 3 packs and 10 packs are not.

Smoke a box pressed Indian Tabac the other night and it was killer. I like the way they feel in my fingers too.
