OK, a picture on an earlier post got me wanting some of the original Oliva Serie O cigars...the ones with the blue cloth bands. I believe eodcole posted that bonitacigars had them.
So i cal em up, and indeed they do. i'ts the Ole size, whcih is 4 3/4 x 50. Not exactly my size of choice, i'd much prefer the torp
But, what i am wondering is if Oliva ever produced that same blue band series with a blue PAPER band, or was it always the cloth band?
The chick, Blanca, at bonitas didn't necessarily make me feel certain it was the same cloth band. I asked if it was cloth and she said yeah, the box says oliva bb. She did say it was the Ole size, whcih is a real size.
i'm skeptical but i'd love to score a box of those original cloth bands, regardless of the size
:help:
The only blue bands I remember were cloth, I dont remember seeing any paper blue ones, I think I still have the box my blue bands came in, I will look and see what it says on it, I thought they were serie O Bold or something.

I've found some info on them, i believe they were called the Oliva "O" Classic. God i really want some of those. The boxes came in a kind of toilet bolw shape. I saw a picture of one but i can't find the cigars themselves...yet.
I'm on amission

Just FYI, I think that the Oliva Serie O cigars are the exact same thing as the cloth-banded Oliva O cigars. I think they just re-packaged them.

Naw, I just took it, I'm quick with resizing on Photoshop so I thought you'd want to verify if they were the same.
Tyler, I've had the Serie O's and didn't think they were the same at all. I think Oliva touts them as the same, but I didn't think the blend was anywhere near close. Oh and thank for ruining my trade I was working on with bball, I had him almost convinced that we should trade one Opus for one Oliva and he was just about to bite damnit! :eyebrow::dunno::hysterica

I believe you on the Os being different blends -- I've just read a few posts that made me believe they were re-packaged.
And sorry for messing up your trade!

I may have to get on the horn with them and order a box of Torano and the Oliva today! I am committing this as my last week of cigar buying while I'm here. Unless it's a small 5 pack or something but no more boxes.

They appear to be a paper band but they are the blue band and solid wood box.

So during my search for these aged cigars, i sent the Oliva family an email via their website. I was asking if there was any where that i could dfind the Oliva "O" with the blue cloth band. Jose Oliva responded with this:
Hello Gale,
Thank you for contacting us. The cigar you are looking for is available almost anywhere. It is now known as Oliva Serie O Maduro. We changed the packaging on the cigars over two years ago, but the blend never changed.
Thank you again.
Best regards,
Jose R. Oliva

Amen to that.
Two years can make a big difference in a tobacco crop. May be same blend diff leaf.
