This has been all over the cigar boards. Funny it's made it to national media now.

Can't say as I disagree Prince. To be SO against something, and yet partake of it, regardless if the rules at the time allowed it, is a little ridiculous. The only excuse I could fathom is that if to refuse the cigar would have caused more problems that it was worth diplomatically.

Speaking of which, anyone else have just a huge problem with our government telling us that we can't even smoke a cuban given to us while in a foreign country?

Who is going to enforce it?

According to the article at the time he did that it was legal to do what he did. Still it was stupid of him to smoke it.... in public..

"DeLay's smoke may have run afoul of his principles, but it did not violate U.S. regulations at the time."
If not, he could always claim it was FAKE & I'm sure could get lots of internet experts to testify in his favour. LoL!

He is no different from anyone of us. He backs his countries policies but none of us know how he really feels towards certain parts of the embargo. I'll bet 90% of the senate and congress would love to be able to smoke habanos and yet keep pressure on Castro.
Everyone one is a hypocrit at some time in their life....the ones I can't stand are the ones that jump on someone else for political gain>

Arguing against loosening sanctions against Cuba last year, DeLay warned that Fidel Castro "will take the money. Every dime that finds its way into Cuba first finds its way into Fidel Castro's blood-thirsty hands.... American consumers will get their fine cigars and their cheap sugar, but at the cost of our national honor."
Seems pretty un-ambivolent to me.:dunno:
I could really care less in this case, but I'd rather someone fighting so hard for the embargo not be so hypocritical in his actions.

The way I read this, they do contribute to Social Security.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/pensions.asp
I remember the email going around during the elections, and as everything I question, I check snopes about it.
But they are a bunch or money grubbing , self-serving ,back stabbing, special interest catering.own pocket lining, looking out for themselves, liars.
That about covers it as to how I feel about them.
A bunch of do as I say, not do as I do, bastards.
