Black Dog Vs Starbucks

How does black dog compare to the starbucks roasts. Moving to the east coast from California everyone here swears by dunkin doughnuts and I think it's the most disgusting thing ever. So I would like to know how it compares to something I know I enjoy and is around a lot of other places as well.

A lot of people think starbucks is over priced. What I've noticed when I talk to people is I ask what they order and they typically don't order regular coffee but order the speciality drinks and I'll agree, that is where it starts to get expensive.

D&D does suck. They used to be ok, but have gone way down hill in the last couple of years. Starbucks is over priced, but I don't feel that they are over rated. I think that they are great! However I recently ordered the Black Dog sampler & I love it. I brewed Starbucks every morning at my home. I'm switching to Black Dog. It's a little cheaper & fresh roasted. The taste is excellent. I let my girl friend try two of their blends today & she loved them as well. I'll still stop in at a Starbucks when I'm out & about. But I recommend trying out Black Dog. They also sponsor the site. Just one more reason to give them a shot.

Starbuck's coffee asin go up there and order an expresso, is worse than drinking car oil in Mexico. Have yet todrink it in the U.S. (not looking forward, though)

I think all the specialty drinks covers up the over-roasted taste of starbucks. Some people like that. Hell my friend's wife liked her food slightly charred on the grill which is what I call BURNT. To each their own.

Starbucks is definitely overpriced and everything at Dunkin Donuts has the same overall donut taste, I'm gonna order a sampler from Black Dog ever since Hardcore told me it was great coffee with a kick!!

To me, it's not even close. Black Dog uses superior beans, roasts them fresh and it's delivered to your door cheaper.

I can't ask for better than that.

Black Dog Coffee is the bomb. Small roasted, small batch! Great stuff. But, I am not a big coffee drinker. I loved the sampler of Black Dog that I got at XMAS, but give me a Dr. Pepper and I am just as happy! hehe.

Black Dog has some great coffee very good roasts. I am also a fan of Starbucks too. We also have a place around here called Beans and Brews that is better than SB IMO. Some of the best beans I have had came from Whole Foods. Yummy. Drink what you like and like what you drink. I like coffee black.

It's over roasted. even a light brew in your home pot still tastes "strong". they roast the beans too long IMHO.

However, there's a CostCo brand that is roasted by starbucks inc that is around $10 for 2 lb. Tough to argue with that price. the only difference is the beans arent' all glossy like they are in a starbucks bag. thye're still over roasted, but i can deal with that for 10 cent per pot of coffee.

D&D is decent I get the turbo hot. Its still cheaper than Starbucks. Black Dog? haven't had I'll have to try some I guess. D&D's are independently owned so it varies as well.

Blackdog is by far better, Starbucks always taste burnt, and the they are not fresh, (look at the packing date of a bag of beans) always 8 to 12 month old....All I can say Is Black Dog

They roasted my beans less than 48 hours before they sent it out to me. You can't beat that.

After all the good words about black dog it looks like I need to order some... I drink starbucks roasted beans At home every morning and I love it. However, I think their drip coffee when bought by the cup at the store isn't that great. I make it better at home than they do in the store LOL.

I never used to drink my coffee black, always used the flavored creamers and what not. I started working out and exercising so to cut some calories I went to straight black. I will never be able to go back. When it is black I think you can pick up more distinct flavors and what have you.

For those who live in cities with whole foods, they roast in-house and they have some great beans IMHO. If you're friendly with the baristas there they will roast some up for you however you'd like. I don't know if that's a normal thing they do or not, but they always have for me, and the roaster is right there.

As far as starbucks and dark coffee goes, I like their dark roasts (italian, espresso, french) because nobody else comes close to the level of smokiness they get with their dark roasts. Love it or hate it (I love it, but some of the discriptions I've heard from others are colorful to say the least), the aroma of starbucks french roast is very distinctive. But their other single-origin coffees (especially the latin americans) really lose something with the darker roast.

Haven't tried Black Dog coffee, thou i am looking forward to trying it. Starbuck's is usually my last option for something to drink, the only thing i ask for there is hot chocolate milk, either white or dark chocolate.

Seriously, though. Thank you to those that commented with compliments! Although I certainly have my own opinions about coffee I'll keep them to myself. Just as with cigars, it's all about what you like. Fortunately for me many people like Black Dog!

I start each day with a fresh ground, french pressed cup of Black Dog coffee. In my opinion it is far better than Starbucks. I do enjoy some of the specialty drinks at Starbucks though, the Green Tea Frappacino is like crack to me.

Yes they can. But only the big bags. The sampler comes as only whole bean.

Dunkins used to be real good back in the day. Now only a few of the shops even bakes anymore.All the products are trucked in every AM.They used to have a rule that if a pot sat for 8 minutes they dumped it out and made a fresh pot. Same with the baked goods. If it was on the rack 8 hours after being baked they got tossed out and fresh stuff put out.Now it sits there until sold or the shop closes for the night.You even have to tell them to use real sugar when you order your coffee or they use this liquid sugar crap!
Hell they don't even make the doughnut that made them famous anymore(Plain with a handle on it for dunkin)
