Hey Everyone,
I just found out earlier today that I was accepted into medical school and will be leaving this January. I will spend one year in Newcastle England, one year in Grenada, and then my final two years in New York.
I have been worrying though because I am not sure if I can travel to England from NY with some cigars! I would love to pack up a small humi full of smokes to bring with me to England, but not sure if customs is going to take them or tax them.
Does anyone have any info on traveling to England with cigars!?

Matt, this might help....
Duty free: When arriving from a non-EU country, travellers can bring the following goods into the UK tax or duty free: 200 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco, 4 litres of still table wine, 16 litres of beer, 1 litre of spirits or strong liqueurs or 2 litres of fortified wine, sparkling wine or other alcoholic beverages of less than 22 per cent volume, £340 worth of all other goods including perfume and souvenirs.
When travelling from another EU country to the UK visitors do not have to pay tax or duty on goods purchased in said EU country provided tax was included in the purchase price, the items are for personal use and have been transported to the UK by the visitor, and do not exceed 3200 cigarettes, 400 cigarillos, 200 cigars, 3 kg of smoking tobacco, 110 litres of beer, 10 litres of spirits, 90 litres of wine and 20 litres of fortified wine. Note: Visitors arriving from Estonia may carry 200 cigarettes or 250g of smoking tobacco and those travelling from Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia may bring 200 cigarettes.

Thanks Larry! That is exactly what I was looking for!
I couldn't head over there without some of my favorites from home! 50 cigars will definitely be a good amount to hold me over for a few months!
Now, I just have to find a shop near campus so I can get those..."other" cigars to supplement my stash!

I was accepted to St. George's University in Grenada. In 2007, they started the Keith B. Taylor Global Scholars Program which entitles students to spend their first year in Newcastle England at Northumbria University. Then, year two is spent in Grenada. Finally, the clinical years are spent in the USA.
SGU's Grenada campus was filled for Jan, so they offered me the G.S. Program. I'm pretty excited to have the opportunity to live in England for a year!
How's life after med-school treating you!?!?
