I know that Todd is having a herf on the same day but here goes. If you live near Long Island, let me know.

OK, I'm mostly settled into my new house, and it's time to host a herf. So Saturday, Sep. 17th starting around 1 PM I'm going to have people over to the house. It's rain or shine as I have ample outdoor area that can stay dry in the event of rain. No smoking inside though guys. So if you live anywhere near Long Island, come on over!!

Starting at around 2, we will be having a No limit Texas Hold 'Em game. The buy in for chips will be 5 habanos, no re-buys. Winner of the tourney gets 50% of the cigars, 2nd place gets 30%, 3rd gets 20%. Everyone else gets nada! You DON'T need to play if you don't want too, and we will need at least 5 players to make it interesting.

There will be healthy portions of the tubaman's chili available, Texas style in the spirit of the poker game!

No Limit Hold ‘Em Tourney Rules

Here it is fellas, the rules that we will follow for our poker tournament. Of course, this is a friendly game, and with all of the great brothers that will be coming these probably aren’t necessary, but just to be on the safe side I’m going to spell them out anyway. Some of these rules I got from Roberts Rules of poker, I modified them for our game.

BUY IN: The buy in is a Cuban cigar sampler worth at least $50 dollars, but in the $50-$75 dollar range. The sampler can be any number of cigars, just please make sure it is worth at least $50. The cigars will be divided before the game starts by me into the first, second and third prize lots so that we all know what we are playing for and there is no confusion after the game. I will try to break up everyone’s cigars up into different prizes so a winner doesn’t wind up getting all his own cigars back. Your buy in will get you $100 dollars worth of chips. There are no re-buys in this game, once you are out you can enjoy cigars and chili!

First Prize: 50% of the cigars
Second Prize: 30% of the cigars
Third Prize: 20% of the cigars

Chips used:
White (and maybe black) $1
Red $5
Blue $10

Anyone arriving after the start of the game will not be allowed to play. The game will start at 2 PM. If we have 10 or more players, we will start with 2 tables, less than 10 will be one table. If we start with 2 tables, they will be combined into one table when we reach seven players left in the game. If we have two tables, players will draw chips from a hat to determine table assignment. Once table assignments have been made, each player will draw a number to determine the seating order, and dealing order. #1 will deal first, #2 will sit to his left and be in the small blind, #3 will sit to #2’s left and be in the big blind, and so on. When merging the 2 tables if necessary, numbers will be redrawn to determine the seating and dealing order.

BETTING AND RAISING
This is a No Limit Hold Em game with small and large blind bets. First player to the dealer’s left is in the small blind, second player to the dealer’s left is in the big blind. Blind bets will be $2 and $4 dollars and will not increase as the game progresses.

1. Check-raise is permitted.
2. In no-limit and pot-limit games, unlimited raising is allowed.
3. Any wager must be at least the size of the previous bet or raise in that round, unless a player is going all-in.
4. A verbal statement denotes your action and is binding. If in turn you verbally declare a fold, check, bet, call, or raise, you are forced to take that action.

DEALING The deal proceeds to the left around the table, and play always proceeds to the left as well. We will NOT burn a card before each part of the remaining 5 up cards. Cards stay over or on the table at all times.

RULES FOR HOLD'EM (just in case you don’t know what you’re getting into!)
In hold'em, players receive two downcards as their personal hand (holecards), after which there is a round of betting. Three boardcards are turned simultaneously (called the “flop”) and another round of betting occurs. The next two boardcards are turned one at a time, with a round of betting after each card. The boardcards are community cards, and a player may use any five-card combination from among the board and personal cards. A player may even use all of the boardcards and no personal cards to form a hand (play the board). A dealer button is used. The usual structure is to use two blinds, but it is possible to play the game with one blind, multiple blinds, an ante, or combination of blinds plus an ante.

RULES
These rules deal only with irregularities.
1. If the first or second holecard dealt is exposed, a misdeal results. The dealer will retrieve the card, reshuffle, and recut the cards. If any other holecard is exposed due to a dealer error, the deal continues. The exposed card may not be kept. After completing the hand, the dealer replaces the card with the top card on the deck. If more than one holecard is exposed, this is a misdeal and there must be a redeal.
2. If the dealer mistakenly deals the first player an extra card (after all players have received their starting hands), the card will be returned to the deck and used for the burncard. If the dealer mistakenly deals more than one extra card, it is a misdeal.
3. If the flop contains too many cards, it must be redealt. (This applies even if it were possible to know which card was the extra one.)
4. If before dealing the flop, the dealer failed to burn a card, or burned two cards, the error should be rectified if no cards were exposed. The deck must be reshuffled if any cards were exposed.
5. If the dealer turns before a betting round is complete, the card may not be used, even if subsequent players elect to fold. Nobody has an option of accepting or rejecting the card. The betting is then completed, and the error rectified in the prescribed manner for that situation.
6. If the flop needs to be redealt for any reason, the boardcards are mixed with the remainder of the deck. After shuffling, the dealer cuts the deck and deals a new flop.
7. A dealing error for the fourth boardcard is rectified in a manner to least influence the identity of the boardcards that would have been used without the error. The dealer what would have been the fifth card in the fourth card's place. After this round of betting, the dealer reshuffles the deck, including the card that was taken out of play, but not including the discards. If the fifth card is turned up prematurely, the deck is reshuffled and dealt in the same manner.

I, in consultation with geoffrie, my consigliere, will be the final arbitrator in any dispute, which I hope doesn't happen. This is a friendly game, but we are playing for habanos!!!

I'm providing the chili, beer and some hard stuff to drink. You provide the maalox or pepto, anything in particular you want to drink, and your favorite cigars! Can't wait to smoke, drink and play poker with you guys!
