Ok this is probibly more opinion than review but here it goes....I am still rather new when it comes to Pete's cigars so If I'm gonna spend the money I figured this was a good way to do it. So far we haven't heard a great deal about either of these cigars in the media yet.....To be fare I grabed one each of the same size (Corona). Sorry I didn't have my camara on me.
Tatuaja's new blend El Triunfador:
This cigar's wrapper (in my opinion) had the feel of a connecticut which I really don't care for. The light is smooth and the burn even. draw is a little tight but not much. The taste is a little bitter coco, some citrus, and a hint of ceder. This is pretty much a Medium Cigar and the flavor burns consistant till the end. It had no burn issues but seemed to draw tighter as it got towards the end.
Tatuaje La Riqueza
This cigar's wrapper was much better (Darker and firmer). The light is smooth and the burn even. Draw is perfectly smooth. The taste is coffee, coco, and a little wood/spice. This again is a Medium Cigar with the flavor burning consistant throughout the smoke. It had no burn issues and the draw remained smooth to the end.
Both of these cigars had strong flavor!
After giving these two a head to head shot the winner for me is the Tatuaje La Riqueza
This cigar to me just felt better, smoked better, and tasted better in my opinion.
Do yourself a favor and give both of these a shot before you buy a box.
Both of these cigars were good but the winner by my own judgment.....is the Tatuaje La Riqueza

Interesting comparison - I get a lot of the same flavors from them - to the point that I think the new ET is kind of a La Ricky-light. Personally I've had quite a few LR's that are tight or were young: They really, really benefit from some 'down time'! I think the ET's will benefit from some age as well - but I like em alot - a whole lot - Pete hit the ball outa the park with this one IMO. To make things more interesting, Pete blended this one on his own.

You make a good point....maybe with some age on the ET it will taste better to me. I will give it a year and compare the two again. For now it's the LR.

Thanks for the comparison, ciggy.
I've only had the La Riqueza as of now. I absolutely loved it. It paired nicely with a Samuel Adams as well.
I'll be getting a 5-pack of the El Triunfador soon.

They are two different cigars though, so you cannot compare the flavors. The La Riqi is full flavored, while the EL T's are a milder, still holding good flavor, reminds me of a CC. Different smokes for different times imho.. I love them both!

Personally I prefer the OR El Triunfador over the "new blend" El Triunfador.

You are correct sir!...They are two different cigars....However details on website's claim they are both strong in flavor and a Medium Blend. I just wanted to post my take on them, if I was choosing between the two. I think the ET was a great cigar just prefered th LR but that's not saying everyone will agree.

I definitely agree that the LRs are better with some age. I still have like 3 left from a couple months after the release--very nice.

Smoked my first new El Triunfador yesterday. Other than the price, my first impression was negative. Like any cigar I will need to smoke a few more before I make my final decision. Hopefully the second is better. You never know, my first La Riqueza was horrible but the second and third were great...ended up buying box the same day :scratchhe

Very few cigars in my humi right now have a hard time keeping up with OR Ricky #3s. New El Ts still trying.

Love the new El T's although I am not sure if I like them better than the OR El Triunfadors.
If you are looking at smoking one of the new ones I would definitely recommend the #6. The La Riquezia is a fine smoke (especially the #1) but the El T #6 is really something special IMO.

I was just counting how many (OR) El T's i have after bombing a
bunch out! I hope i can hold on the few i have left, but you know how
that goes. I've been gifted a couple of the new El T's.. It's time
to pull them out....
The only El Rickies i've had had "Plume".... Oooops I meant Mold
on them, and I took them back to the store.... :crying:
Great reviews Tom! Thanks for sharing!:applause:

wish I had more of the new Triumfadores around my area... I can find Riquesa here and there.... and love em, but the only 3 new Triumfadores I smoked left me craving for more!! I blame it on those that sent me them!! (lol?)
Good quick review. Thanks

Not to sway ciggy's fine review/comparison thread but... Does anyone have a pic of the OR ET? I have two ETs (just received one yesterday as a purchase escort) and if I remember correctly, the bands are different. I'm not where I can check right now...

If your refering to the ET Lance, I had one a few weeks ago and really liked it. I thought it had a different flavor than the new ET however it was a lance so it's bound to have a different flavor profile not to mention the wrapper is different. I don't know if that was Pete's intention or not to create the same cigar on a different scale I mean.
I can tell you this...I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pre-release of the La Verite and it was awsome! Again though...different cigar.

I think Moro put together a comprehensive Tatuaje guide somewhere around here complete with pics. He did a really great job it's worth checking out.

Smoking my second El T here as well.
I do not like the new blend at all. I bought 2 boxes without having tried them and it was a huge mistake. Dont think I'll smoke another for a while if ever. Might just trade them away.
It's really hard to say this, too, as I am a huge Tat fan.

I got a sampler pack of both brands with all of the vitolas on line at New Havana Cigars. Both great cigars, but it's like apples and oranges. I've posted a review for the El Triunfador at http://www.kilowhiskey.de/reviews/reviews.htm#rthirtyfour and will be posting a review for the La Riqueza soon.
Everybody hawking their website. Geesh. Why not post it here?

I'm with you. I bought a box last week and I keep reaching for them. Seems like my day is not complete until I have one (even if I've smoked others that day.)

I bought 10 boxes of the La Riqueza when they first came out and down to my last one. They are really hitting the sweet spot now with the added time down and offer a great flavor and burn. To me the EL T's are good but not one I would grab over the La Riqueza.
