Alright, the wife's laptop was recently infected with this f*%#ing crap. I downloaded Spybot and it took a bunch of it out yesterday. Today, I log on, get onto BOTL and bloop...Ad. Now I know it's not BOTL, but this is the third time I've had one pop up while I'm on the site.
I just finished running Spybot again and nothing came up. So unless Vipe's installed some adware (Yeah...sure...:headroll: ), I'm still infested. Any really good programs out there?

I use adaware, it works well. You should stop looking at all those porn sites on your wife's computer! She might catch you :smokingbo

Try webroot's spysweeper. You can try it for 30 days, then you have to buy it. I don't get spyware, but I swear by that program for customers' machines that are infested.

I use Spybot Search & Destroy, Adware and MS Antispyware...the combination of the 3 seems to work well. I run them every Friday.
The MS Antispyware is supposed to be "real time" but you have to do manual updates and it doesn't catch as much as the other two.

That's crazy. What kind of ad was it? At least tell me it was naughty!
I'm not sure what software for the PC has been out since I switched to Macs but there was a program called proximitron (sp) that would have blacklists of all known ad server urls.

Here's what popped up: just did it to me again. Started up IE, typed in www.botl.org/community/forums (http://www.botl.org/community/forums) and this is what came up:

Damnit. Adaware installed. 50 objects found. Stupid ass thing just came up again. It's keyed to BOTL for some reason.

It's tracking your browsing patterns to thusly plaster tobaccania related ads all over your screen!
