Once I get my pipe I am pretty sure I don't want to be using my Xtend to light it.
Would an old zippo be alright or would a soft flame butane lighter be better?
Edit...I just saw the other lighter thread...I can use my zippo. It was my Dad's in Vietnam.

Zippo's are OK ... but let it burn for a few seconds before lighting your pipe so the naptha taste/aroma doesn't transfer.
You can also get a cheap, refillable butane pipe lighter. These have the flame coming out at a 45 degree angle. A good brand is IMCO - for about $7.

you might want to try the traditional way - matches! When i first started smoking a pipe it seemed natural to use a lighter...but using matches has more charm to it. kinda adds to the experience for me.

Good point George...although, I guess it will have to depend on the weather.
