Today I smoked the Viaje TNT. For those of you that don’t know this cigar was released about a week ago. It’s a one time limited production cigar made for the 4th of july holiday. It’s a 6 ¼ x 54 Nicaraguan puro blended to be full bodied but very balanced and it sports a Sun Grown Corojo wrapper. The cigar is made to look like a stick of dynamite and comes in a crate that looks like a case of dynamite. 50 crates of 75 cigars were made. Here we go…

Pre light

It has a nice maduro shade wrapper with a gorgeous looking wick protruding from the cap to give it that “stick of dynamite" look. It also has a closed foot. The wrapper gives off a bit of an oily sheen and is smooth to the touch. This cigar has no band which also adds to the look of a dynamite stick. Add all this together and you have a very visually pleasing cigar! Pre light aroma I got a very sweet tobacco smell. It actually has a very similar pre light smell to the summer fest robusto I smoked not too long ago. Not quite as strong of an aroma though. Pre light draw I got flavors of leather and a sweet earthiness.

1/3

The cigar opened up fast. I got flavors of wood, coffee, and an almond nuttiness that was out of this world. It reminded me of having coffee in the morning with an almond croissant next to it. The finish is a bit short but that is made up with flavor. A nice creaminess through the nose is making this a complex smoke right off the bat. The ash decided to flower and split and ended up falling off after a half inch or so which was odd but it didn't effect the way the cigar smoked and was really the only negative point in the whole experience.

2/3

The second third was full of coffee and leather with a nice sweet undertone. The wood flavor has all but left and I got a bit of pepper on the finish. The draw is very loose but I am still getting a ton of smoke on every puff. The burn is superb.

3/3

The final third is a continuation of the last. Coffee, leather, and a bit of pepper but all of sudden I am getting a cinnamon flavor on the finish. It’s a very similar flavor profile to an opus x actually. Very enjoyable. I was able to nub it easily without it heating up to much.

Final thoughts:

What can I say? I loved this cigar! It was made up of some of my favorite flavors and aromas. I love a sweet, earthy cigar and this was just that. It wasn’t nearly as strong as I thought it would be given the name. I now think its called TNT just because of the design and not the body or strength of the cigar. It was medium bodied and wasn’t that spicy at all. It was a very complex cigar and the flavors flowed very well together. I would certainly buy this cigar again. It’s a shame they are so limited.

Final score: 94

A very enjoyable review and pics. I have been enjoying them since I received my package last week. I'm looking forward to fireworks and TNT.

I would certainly buy this cigar again. It’s a shame they are so limited.

This is my beef with limited production cigars. Thanks for the review though, may have to go through the hassle of trying to snag a few of these.

Great review! I've smoked two now (the first was right behind the SF Robo which effected my perception of it) and you review put to words what I couldn't.

Thanks Steve!!!

I don't think you will have a problem still finding the TNT's because they came in crates of 75!

I smoked one today. My ash didn't split like your did. I wasn't reviewing it...just enjoying around a table with some of the locals at the B&M. This is a very good cigar for sure.
