I've been exchanging emails with Gail and have narrowed it dwon to one of these four in the smooth/rusticated combo. I am waiting on the completely smooth choices.

Which of these four do you guys like the best for now though...I have a favorite but just thought I'd see what you guys think.

My personal favorite is #2. I like the looks with the patch of polished briar in the middle of more of the rustic, and the nice stem. #3 is my second choice with the taper near the stem.

Well, I haven't had a reply from the Boswell's in about five days now. When the only way perspective customers are able to see their stock is via email then they should dedicate a little more time/effort to that task I guess.

On Thursday I told them I was leaning towards #2 but inquired as to whether they could show me some of their completely smooth 1/4 to 1/2 bent pipes with similar bowl shapes. I have resent the email on Friday and today and still have not received a reply. I wish I could call from the office. Maybe I will on the way home.

Ummm, it's easier to conduct non-work related stuff via email...then co-workers can't here that I am not working.

Nice tone btw.

a tip that was passed onto me, is to coat the inside of the bowl with honey or maple syrup(lightly) before a loading her up...for the first few bowls, helps to build up the cake and break er in.

This may not be necessary. Boswell uses a coating in the bowl. Here is a quote from there site.

The final step buffing the pipe with a carnauba wax to a shining finish. Along with the last step are two more crucial steps Boswell's special bowl coating and Boswell's signature plus the year of the pipe. Boswell's bowl coating greatly shortens the "break-in" time and gives a sweet smoke from the very first bowl.

There pipes do smoke great from the get go!

Alright, it arived today and has quite a bit more bulk to it then I thought...very very nice pipe. The hole is right at the bottom of the bowl.

Not the bottom of the side but in the bottom.

Sounds nice! Wish I had time lately to sit down and smoke anything. By the time I could get around to it there's no way I'm going to consider even sitting in the garage when it's 20 degrees at 9 or 10pm. Haven't made it to the shop in weeks. I envy you Todd.

Sleep...a highly overrated function that people who no longer or have never had to care for young children get. It's been just over 2 years since my wife or I had much sleep, and we're going to be making things worse in April.

Don't envy me man...if it weren't for my 50 minutes plus commute I wouldn't be smoking much, if at all.

ROFL...I've got 20 minutes or so for the most part. Hardly long enough to smoke anything worthwhile. I tend to smoke pretty slow...even a ERDM Cafe Au Lait takes me close to 45 minutes.

Man, I smoked the 'Christmas Cookie' aromatic that they sent with the pipe on the way to work today (65 minutes)...it was really good!
