Illusione cg:4
5 5/8x48 "White Horse"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v60/docbp87/Illusionecg41.jpg

The cg:4 (I assume the cg stands for Corona gorda, even though it has a larger
ring than a corona gorda should) features a velvet smooth, medium/dark brown wrapper
with a very visible, interesting vein structure. The texture though is very smooth
like very soft leather. It has an almost silky quality to it. Very nice. The foot
is a little rough, with the wrapper looking a little ragged in the last 1/4 inch,
even with a few small cracks. Shouldn't be a problem though. The pack is a little
loose. The stick has a slightly spongy feel to it. No particularly soft spots, but
it certainly is not a firm stick.

The body offers only a light cocoa aroma, while the foot has more of a sweet, woody
smell to it. The cold, pre-light draw is a medium firmness, not at all loose,
but not problematically or particularly firm either. It offers a mildly floral
tobacco which is very pleasant and delicate.

Lit at 11:40pm.

Initial flavor is very nutty and creamy. There is a slight pepper washing over the
palette. The finish is fairly short, lasting only a few seconds.

Moving a little way into the first third and the flavors have stepped up to the
plate. There is a good leather flavor, followed by a smooth cream flavor, with
a spicy pepper finish. Draw has also loosened up considerably to a very comfortable
loose draw. Mouthfeel is very oily, almost syrupy. About an inch and 3/4 in, I'm
starting to get a pretty good chocolate on the finish, in addition to the spicy
tingle.

Right around the start of the second third, I'm noticing that this is a pretty
fast burning stick. Sort of a bummer, as it is very tasty. I think it has to do with
how loose the pack is. Flavors are very deep and earthy, still with a chocolate
and pepper on the finish, which is an interesting, but good combination.

(Look at that burn line! RAZOR SHARP!)
A quick note. The burn line has been razor sharp the whole way down, now just past
the halfway mark. Ash isn't terribly firm or tight, and holds on for just over
an inch at a time, falling into a wad of dark gray.

Flavors getting into the final third are starting to get very creamy and even a
little nutty. It is staying surprisingly cool as it gets down to the end, which
is very nice. Overall this has been a very satisfying, flavorful stick. Not
necessarily my favorite flavors personally, or anything too unique. Instead it
delivers great examples of somewhat common flavors, in a very big, bold way.

Ended at 1:20am, for a total burn time of one hour forty minutes.

I just smoked this cigar tonight as well with my father in law... love the cigar.

FYI, from Dion Giolito...

Cg:4 – The White Horse
I wanted to associate it with the wine country – French wine country. I called Pete when he just happened to be in Miami celebrating Pepins’ birthday. He handed me off to Pepin and I wished him happy birthday. When Pete got back on the phone, I asked him what the cliché should be on the side of my box. I told him it was Cg:4 Corona Gorda….. He said Cheval Blanc “The white Horse” PERFECT I thought – Corona Gorda, the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse, The White horse which is the Conquer, the false prophet – Revelation 6:2.

This is one of my all time favorite cigars. I've smoked boxes of em and never been disappointed! Just blazed through most of a box from 08 that a buddy sold me. :)

Great review.

I've had a couple and enjoyed them. Enough that I will probably buy a box next time. Very good cigar.

I really like these, especially the cg4 and the 68. The 68 is my favorite, and my go-to when I want a "small" cigar. Just wish they weren't $9 each around here.

Thanks for the review Doc! In the last pic, what is that box that your
cigar is sitting on? Do they release those in boxes of 4 or 5?

I had this cigar yesterday. It was really really good. I had a couple burn issues near the end which prevented me from nubbing it. The only drawback to it was that it was a bit dry on the mouth, making me want to drink more water/beer than I needed at the time.
