A little contest for some nice NC's to celebrate my 100th post. And in honor of the New Years Holiday I'll include an Anejo #48 and a WOAM.

Here goes:
Who is my favorite musical performer and what is my favorite song done by that performer. I'll drop some hints as we go along. :smt026

Oh, I almost forgot! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

:smt046 OK, goofy contest, I know! It's my first try and the best I could come up with when I realized my 100th would coincide with New Years.

Hint: This performer generally plays small venues and has been touring since the early 70's.

He has a dedicated following, not quite to the extent of Jimmy Buffet, but like Buffet alot of his songs are humorous. John Denver did one of his songs and made it more popular than this artist ever did. I won't give the title to that song just yet as it would lead you right to him. I will tell you that the song that Denver did talked about simplifying life, moving to the country and feeding your children peaches.

She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
Well she pressed her chest against me
About the time the juke box broke
Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck
And these are the words she spoke

Chorus:
Blow up your T.V. throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own

Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo
Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin' me what to do

Repeat chorus:

Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
When just as I was leavin', well she looked me in the face
I said "You must know the answer."
"She said, "No but I'll give it a try."
And to this very day we've been livin' our way
And here is the reason why

We blew up our T.V. threw away our paper
Went to the country, built us a home
Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches
They all found Jesus on their own

:smt048 Way to go klmhoward! You got the artist! John Prine!

The lyrics were just a hint to lead the way to the artist but that is not the song I am looking for.

Hmmm. A hint for the song. Let see, I take care of my elderly father so I think of this song often. :smt020

If you're a Prine fan, this will be easy!

Man, we're coming right down to it! Those were excellent guesses but there's another song that's a little sadder and is about the lonliness of growing older.

"Hello In There"

(excerpt)
"You know that old trees just grow stronger
And old rivers get wilder every day
Old people just get lonesome
Waiting for someone to say "Hello in there, Hello."

So if you're walkin' down the street some day
And spot some hollow, ancient eyes
Please don't just pass 'em by and stare
As if you didn't care, say "Hello in there, Hello."

PM your addy and I'll get 10 of the best NC's I can find in my humi plus the Holiday bonus sticks heading your way!
