Thought I would chime in on this one also. Put some thought into it after exchanging PMs with a friend about it yesterday and I also came to the conclusion that I wasn't real comfortable with it either. As Eric stated, I don't mind the occasional NSFW thread sprinkled in the General Discussion forum but to have a forum dedicated to that specific content is not something I personally would like to see on BOTL.

I think the purpose for this was not really to have a place to post "Porn" but more of a place to post funny 'adult' links that were a little more off color. Something that you know, you should only be opening when it is 'safe' to view. I think that was the original thought of this. Not trying to step on anyone's toes or views here. As a new member, please forgive the input; but as entertaining as some of the NSFW/NSFF posts can be, there is the risk of degrading the site if some control isn’t available to the members (IMVVHO)

Ideally the posts would be in a separate forum with access to view by only registered members, notification of such posts can be controlled by each member and the listing of such posts could be excluded from the member’s home page (if they don’t want to see the posts, why would they want to have their list of new postings filled with them?). I see a great environment here as a new guy and would be disappointed if that environment was eroded. That said, there’s nothing wrong with sharing an off color joke/pic/link and if those that want can chose not to play/view… have at it! I look forward to the offerings!

I think we all "police" this place somewhat since there is that certain feel to this place. I like to call it a close brotherhood of good spirited friends. We all truly care for the cigars we smoke and the people we smoke with (even if it is across the net). That atmosphere comes across in the posts and the direction of the board.

Since proposing the idea for a NSFW room I have largely stayed out of the discussion since I don't have strong feelings either for or against NSFW posts. We're all adults and more significantly, guys. Guys have a tendancy to enjoy looking at and/or joking about all sorts of things that we wouldn't necessarily share with our grandmothers over Sunday dinner, be it the soft porn of a tool calendar, an off-color joke,a little bit of skin or a well defined camel toe. These kind of posts and sometimes avatars have always been here and likely always will. I don't have a problem with that. The reason I originally made the proposal is that I've noticed that as our membership has grown, the frequency of NSFW posts has increased quite a bit. There has been at least one case where someone opened an attachment that could have been embarassing for them or possibly offensive to someone around them. If that kind of thing increased I thought that we might eventually find ourselves needing to put some kind of controls or limits in place. Personally I wouldn't want to see that happen so I thought the idea of a room for those kind of posts might have some merit. One concern I do have if the DoI became a reality is that some folks could get carried away with things. That would be a shame and would likely still result in some sort of limits. Which ever way this thing goes, I hope that we can still behave like guys while at the same time conduct ourselves as adults, restraining ourselves rather than have restraints placed on us.
