Is there a proper side to cut a cigar with a Palio cutter? It seems sometimes my cut is bad it comes in at a v and quite ragged other times it is just as smooth as glass? I'm new to this cutter what am I doing wrong?

I have never noticed a difference. :dunno:

Should be the same both ways. Just open it up large enough for the cigar and take one quick snip.
I have also found it sometimes gives a smoother cut if you moisten the tip of the cigar (also lets you get a taste of the wrapper this way)

I had the same problem when I first got mine. Found that if I clipped it quick it would give me a straight cut. Had the same problem with my Xicar as well.
What Slammer said...Clip it quick and don't take your time doing it.

I have noticed that sometimes the cigar has something to do with it as well. When I use my Palio to cut my Opus... very clean and smooth... but when I cut it the same way with a different cigar, sometimes it is not as perfect.
