What is everyone's favorite cut? I hope this poll thing works. I'm very interested in this as I personally like a punch. Never had a bad experience with little bits in my mouth or anything else.

I use all sorts of cutters. It depends on what I'm smoking.

Scissors - Less than 32 Ring
Punch - Less than 42 Ring
Dbl. G - More than 42 Ring
V-cutter - Torp's & Beli's

Double blade almost always. Used a punch the other day just for kicks. That was OK, but got to stick with the double blade.

I use a Xikar most often but lately a Palio sometimes. They're double bladed. Every now and then a punch. Don't much care as long as it's a clean cut. I never tried shooting the end off with a gun though. I might have to try it next time I'm at the range. Nah, I'm not that good a shot.

Its normally a game time decision for me. Sometimes i like the V-cut or a punch, other times i like to use my scissors. But if I were to have only one cutter it would be a double blade guillotine.

double blade xikar cause that is all this newbie has, works well too.

You forgot the bite it off and spit it out method.

Very loaded question. 99% of the time it's my Xikar. I'm kind of a gadget hound though, so I also have a pair of scissors at work for the occaisonal work cigar that work fine (small pair). I also have a SAK (Swiss Army Knive) cutter that works very well, doesn't get much use though. I also just ordered the new Revolucion Scissors from Mark at Cigarmony.com as they look frickin' cool and I just had to have one. I used to absolutely love punches back in the day, but haven't used them in a very long time. I just prefer the wide open cut I get with the other methods. The draw just tends to be better to me. Never used a v-cut, though my neighbor loves his.

Xikar or Palio. I like the full draw I get from the cut. V cuts close on me and the punch seems to give me a hot/sharp draw. Plus there is the whole ritual thing......

I like a punch on large ring gauge. I just make multiple punches and the area of draw is very comparable to a double blade. On smaller rings or a cigar with a tapered head I use a double or single blade. Double blades tend to give me more tobacco in the mouth.

Prefer cut (I have a cheapy single blade) but bought an effective lighter that has 2 punches built in. Makes me fully portable in one unit. Don't have to woory about "now where'd that cutter go" syndrome. I like the convienience. The larger punch usually gives sufficient draw. On occassion I have had to double tap.

Sheesh. I'm getting sick of being in the minorities in these polls. Not only am I one of the few who prefer a V-notch, I'm also one of the oldest farts around. Of course, I knew that about both topics long before viewing the results.

I started with the punch but someone pointed out that the nicotine gums up around the hole. Once I started noticing it I couldn't stop so I bought a cutter and have never looked back. I keep a punch in my backpack and in my truck incase I can't find the double blade.

I also keep one of the buck knives that uses a sheet rock blade handy.

Cheers

I've always used a doubleblade g cut, and recently just switched from my cheapo cutter to a new Palio (very nice BTW). I have a punch sitting here but have yet to try it... I guess if I didnt like how it turned out I could always just do my normal cut :dunno:

Chalk up another vote for the Palio. I was a punch guy after having a cheap guillotine tear a few smokes. But the first time I saw a buddy at the local B&M pull out the Palio, I knew I would have to have one. I think I've only used a punch once since.

A Stanley, or whatever other brand I have available, utility knife.

When I started smoking years ago, it's all I had laying around. Never found the need to break the habit. Never have to look to far for one. Have about ten laying around. I suppose I'm pretty good at cutting it that way. Been doing it for twenty or so years. Blade goes dull, I just open the back and replace it. Found a lot of uses for those things over the years. This was just another one.

Actually I'll never be known as refined, an afficianado, or connoiseur. I'm in it for the taste of the tobacco only. I suppose using that knife reminds of that every time I fire one up.

If you think that's a little unusual, you oughta see my torch. That's a topic for a later date.

I have been using a Palio lately just because I purchased it to see how I liked it (and I do). But, for the majority of my cigars, I use sissors that I purchased from the Mont Blanc boutique here in town. I really just bought them to have but I figured I'd give them a try...and I haven't used much else since. I feel I have a bit more control over the cut compared to an Xikar & Palio, but that's just me.

I used to use the bite and spit method, then graduated to razors and exacto knives. Then I bought an Xi2.

I have a pair of scissors somewhere, but I haven't seen them in years. At the time, I didn't know what they were--thought they were for trimming dog's nails or something. I used to use them for stripping wires, and various other tasks.

I want to try a V cut but never brought myself to picking one up. Usually I use my palio. When I had a keychain punch (before it broke and fell off) I would use that once in a while. Anything with a flat end on it works well with a punch.

I'm such a goober. I'm about the only guy I know that has a Palio that doesn't love it. Of course, when I try to extend the blades, half the time it falls apart. I have never got a clean cut with my Xikar, and my scissors are just kinda dull.

I really like my ceramic blade ceracut...especially the older model with the smaller hole. But for my JLPs, I use a bullet punch, otherwise I'm spittin' short filler like it's Copenhagen.

Prefer V Cut (because that is what my grandfather's old german cutter produces) but I'll use whatever is handy: punch, single blade, double blade, scissors or my old standby pen knife; unfortunately this is less of a standby since I keep cleaning out my pockets and breifcase before I fly <g>. I think a double blade guillotine cut, cuts cleaner, produces less/no tobacco bits and the ability for a good draw. Seems to me punches and V cuts would impede draws as they don't produce as much area on the open end of the cigar as the double blade guillotine cut IMHO.
