Just putting out the idea of some of the NY/NJ/CT guys getting together at a NJ establishment for a few smokes and possibly dinner before the ban goes into effect.

What do you guys think? Maybe Azucar again? Would anyone want to take part?

joshua
03-29-2006, 08:37 PM
I'd like to do azucar one last time, like a saturday if anyone is free.

Brilliant!

It starts April 15th I believe.

Besides Azucar, Jersey City or Azucar, Edgewater I would also suggest some bars in the Ironbound section of Newark - Don Costas comes to mind.

Nobody is allergic to Brazilians, right?

I know it is short notice and is going to be hard for me to swing but the 8th is pretty much all I have available before the 15th.

It has been determined that I may need to go to a customer's site on a damage control mission the week of the 10th so the weekend of the 15th, if that is when it goes into effect is no good.

Obviously, because of the wife's winery tour, the 1st is no good.

Unless someone has a wife or sister that can babysit. :wifey:

Don't worry, our spare bed is on the 3rd floor and I sleep on the 1st.

We should pick a time for this to start for everyone to meet. We could do a late lunch, not sure what their lunch hours but a cuban sandwich would be pretty nice. If we did afternoon then we could head over to Fume later on and chill and smoke some more cigars there since they are open till 11:30.

Wasch_24
04-01-2006, 03:38 PM
Damn, I'm not sure I could even eat a cuban sandwhich on this diet...I'll have to check.

How long of a drive was it Josh? 4 hours? The earliest I could be up there is around 1130-1200...to your house that is.

Larry you started this...do you have any preference or ideas on the time and what not?

tubaman

I probably won't be able to get there until 5ish, but don't schedule around me. You guys start whenever you want. Todd, if you don't want to risk it with Joshua, you can crash with me, but it will add about 1 1/2 drive to your ride!!!!!:bouncetau :bouncetau :bouncetau :bouncetau

JJ's is a nice place. I'd really like to hit up Acuzar.

Maybe a poll with directions for each place to see what works best for everyone? Also what time, 3/4pm?? If it has a lounge/cigar friendly bar the early birds can show up and hold down the fort until the rest come.

Headbanger
04-02-2006, 11:59 AM
Closer to MD for me for :driving: issues . Still checking with the :wifey: tho even I can go. Does anyone south of there or Maryland want to hook up for this? Again depending on whether I can go or not of couse, I would drive.

Wasch_24
04-02-2006, 12:04 PM
Depending on what time we decide to meet and how late a night it is we could ride together Steve. I don't think I want to risk driving back any later then 8pm but that wouldn't make for much of a herf if I left by then.

I am pretty sure I am going to end up staying the night...if you stay over we could still ride together. :dunno:

Headbanger
04-02-2006, 12:04 PM
Woodbridge is only like 3 hours from here. Long as I can make it home by 3am, I would not even need a place to crash since I am a night owl. Not sure where the other place were talking about, but am pretty sure I will convince my wife I MUST go to this function.

(Edit) Todd, I should confirm this by this evening, cause she does work on Sat. If you could drive this far toward say Route 70 and 32 area in Maryland, I will drive from there and save you lots of driving.

Wasch_24
04-02-2006, 12:06 PM

04-02-2006, 03:43 PM

I do drink alcohol, so long as you have a good driving record, no problem letting you drive back if we drive back that night. This is shaping up pretty nicely!!! So are we sticking with Azucar? That's a pretty nice place, big area for us to smoke in, good food, great selection of rum. Parking kind of sucks though, although they validate for a nearby parking garage if I remember correctly. JJ Bittings has a great selection of beers and ports, easier to get to imo, and is pretty big, but might be busier.

caudio51
04-03-2006, 07:23 AM

I very much like Azucar and glad to hear that we can sill smoke in the lounge. Thanks to Steve and Todd for making the long haul from the deep south.

I must say, Steve cracked me up all evening.

Right, I brought a disposable so posting pics are delayed... but besides the the usual herf pics (ciagrs, food, us) I know there's a couple of pics with the waitresses who were attentive and mucho caliente.

And as far as brokeback cigar club jokes go ... my vote for "Best Line of the Herf Award," goes to Steve. Not so much for causing irreputable emotional damage to his 8 year old daughter, but because it was just damn funny!

Larry, Tom, Josh and Geoff, as always a great time hanging with you guys. Larry, your father is a pretty cool guy, bring him along more often. I'm really glad the smoking lounge will remain so we can go and hang out with those HOT waitresses! My wife enjoyed the flan by the way.

I made it thru my first HERF alive, at least mostly alive.

Thanks to all for the nice time, good smokes, cool drinks, and yes, HOT waitresses. Was a pleasure meeting you all.

Todd, thanks for the taste smokes on the ride to NJ, can you say DC's !! Your generosity and good nature were true in person as the posts are here. Glad you have that GPS nav system and that your door locks worked well.

Kevin and Geoffrie, you guys ROCK. Kevin hooked me with an ERdM from the 70's that I need to make time for, along with a new releases stick. Geoffrie had me smoking to oblivion. The Robusto was ok, but that damn BBF had my head spinning for an hour. Or was it that liquorish express drink? Oh and ask Tom about Brokeback mountain, not me :dunno:.

Great meeting Joshua, Larry, and some young (and yes very quite guy) Tom. You guys are all great brothers.

The most puzzling thing was quiet Tom, not totally quiet mind you, just nowhere near as talkative as he posts here. I found Geoffrie to be very knowledgeable to say the least, that is when I could understand him thru the NY NY accent. Kevin and Todd are very decent guys as portrayed here in the posts (and generous as hell). Larry is just like his father, smooth and cool. Joshua, about exactly as I thought would be. Not in a bad way, just quiet and caused no commotion nor problems.

I tried posting last night, but freaking cable is down for a few days. Thanks again to all the brothers and thank for a great time.

PS, the daughter is fine. I do not think she caught the joke about the zipper.
