Anyone else a fan? I don't eat them often but love a good gyro when I can get one.

I love a good Gyro! There's a NoVA place called Knossos that has the best I've ever had. A Gyro with a side of fried zuchini w/ tsiziki (sp?) sauce is heaven on earth.

I like them, however, they are hard to find around here. Normally I get them in NY or NJ when I'm out that way.

I love them. Unfortunately hard to find in West Texas.
Love them and they're two places in Jackson! I'd eat there more often if my g/f liked them too. But I guess that's a good thing so I won't get tired of them.

 Nice quote Derek!
Oh and I hate the way you smell when walking out of a Greek restaraunt.
Gryo King on Fordham Rd, right near Jerome Ave in da Bronx.

Was a daily event when I worked at Fordham over the summers.
Big slab of meat rotating on the scewer, in the hot sun. So heathly

Love 'em - only a couple of places around where I live to get them though. Used to go to the Parthenon Restaurant on Halsted in Chicago on a fairly regular basis when I lived up that way - sure miss that place.

I've just found a little place who's gyros I absolutely love. I usually only like them for about 3/4 of the sandwhich then it just gets to be too much, if that makes any sense. But this place does something different. Either the meat is somehow "milder", the sauce ins't quite as potent or something. But whatever it is, it's a GREAT sandwhich.
*edit* Oh yeah, and you can hardly throw a stick in the Tampa Bay area without hitting a greak restaurant/restaurant run by Greeks. Go to Tarpon springs and that becomes almost literal.

We probably sell about 45 a month at this location. Not really sure on the number chain wide.
We use a beef and lamb mix for the meat. We found it suits the southern taste preference a little better than the traditional lamb only.
I think I'll have one for lunch today. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Are you talking about a national chain S&H? I saw a commercial for gyros and Arby's has started to make them.

A good Gyro is ok....but if I ate them often I'd get sick of them real quick.
The aftertaste with these things seems to last forever.

We are more regional than national. Southeast US, most of our stores are in SC and NC.
Haven't seen the Arbys commercial.

Oatmeal and scrambled eggs is good chit after the wisdom teeth pulling. Hell I eat it every morning anyway.

One of my friends told me about a gyro place that slices the meat right off when you order it. I gotta find out where its at.

Haven't been to one of these since graduating from college (89). Was one in Greenville, NC that had a special on Weds or Thurs nights for $0.99 subs and pitchers. The pitchers started at 4 and the subs at 5. It was always the debate after drinking pitchers for an hour, should we buy another round of pitchers or actually buy a sub. Subs were good but the beer usually won.
