I went with other cause its actaully a combination of 1 and 2. I have the screensaver kick in after 10 minutes, then the monitor turns off after 30. I only reboot once in a great while.

I leave it on during the day and the screen saver comes on. But I turn it off when I go to bed. The computer is in my room and I can't stand the "humming" noise it makes while I'm trying to go to sleep.

I leave it on. I used to not like the noise of the machine when I was going to sleep. It was left on though cause I was downloading files. Now it is strange to not have it on when sleeping.

My home desktop is set to hibernate just because I don't use it all that much anymore. I let it hibernate rather than turn it off because it's faster than waiting for it to boot up when I happen to be near it and want to check email or something.
I use my laptop at both work and home so it's on day and night. I do have it set to hibernate though to save the battery if it's unattended and not plugged in.

Weekdays I shut it down when I leave work and when I go to bed.

Weekends I put it in hibernation everytime I leave it to do something else.
