Thanks to the DogWatch Social Club podcast:
It will now be coming in two new finishes. A carbon fiber and a wood grain. Can't wait to see them. Now I have to get a few new cutters for every occasion!

Just listened to the podcast on the way home. Had been waiting to hear the new announcement. I actually posted a while back that I wish they would put out different colors. Carbon fiber though... thats a totally new material.
Still would like to see red or blue plastic.... Or even white.

Now, the question I have is.... when will Mark have them and ... will there be a GB?
Wow, wood grain! Very nice!

Hey Mark, when they say "wood grain," do the mean real wood, or plastic that looks like wood? Ditto re: carbon fiber --- the real deal, or just the look?

I saw them a few months ago over at Jacks palce. All I can say is that they look outfrigging standing. Also changed (at least in the pre production model) was the little horse logo on the cutter. Now these are made by placing a little medal insert in that space. I hear many other options are in the works as well.
Long live Palio!

I wonder if they just announced it at RTDA or they were actually showing them off. If they actually had them there, why hasn't anyone taken any pictures? I wanna see these bad boys!
Sounds cool, can't wait to see them. Although I love my Palio and is the ONLY cutter on the market that I recommend, I'd like to rather see them focus their effort on penetrating the market. I'm not sure if Xikar and the like have contractual competition clauses with most shops or not but I'd like to see them on more shelves!

Tough crowd here! lol
Well, we must admit we are addressing this earlier than we had thought we would, but here goes.....
The new versions of the Palió cigar cutter will be available in the coming weeks. Our original intention was to have them available already, but we have taken our time in everything we have done with our company to this point and will continue to do so. If our products and other ventures are not exactly as we want them to be we refuse to go forward with them. To this end we have taken a little longer period of time to make some adjustments we felt necessary.
The new versions of the Palió cigar cutter are not actual Carbon fiber or Burl wood, as the action of the cutter would not remain the same for many reasons. We have always wanted the Palió cigar cutter to have different looks and knew that this would be of great appeal to our customers and to new ones alike. The issue was that the previous owners of the Palió cigar cutter could never figure out a way to incorporate some finishing application without affecting the cutters ability to do its job. We believe we have found a way to offer variety in finish, which is truly limitless and can offer the consumer choices now and into the future. The price of the Design Palió series cutters will be higher than our original composite Palió cigar cutter, but reasonable given the finish and durability.
We are pleased with the reception our product has gotten in its original form and the “buzz” our new versions have created though they have yet to be released. We as a company would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have spoken so nicely about our product. We will continue to produce and bring to market products that will meet your approval and continually strive to improve every aspect of our business. Rest assured we are always working on new ideas and what you have seen and will see soon is only the beginning.
Sincerely,
Brother of the Leaf

Of course it was not intentional.
The only beef I could see people having is the way they kept telling the vendors "Soon" and "Next Week".
Honesty is very important.
If it is not going to be ready then say so. Really quite a simple concept.
Hey if Ashton can get away with it for the period they did without reprocussions, Palio certainly can. I tride Randy's at the Vegas herf and must say that is quite a cutter. Maybe they will be around in time for my birthday and I can drop a hint to the wifey.

Being a new process and design I'm sure each day they gave as an estimate, they honestly thought would happen, but things came up that needed to be addressed...which changed the release. ( Just my guess)
getting simple things manufactured is not easy. Something like a cutter that requires close tolerances is much harder. Good things come to those who wait. There are only 2 peole who are more anxious than all the Palio customers, and thats the owners of Palio.

No doubt. I'm not saying it was on purpose at all.
Maybe honesty was not the right word...maybe they should have just been a little more conservative on their estimates.
Especially after the first date passed by.

Well, their inital estimate was dead on. What happened was they had 1 company that was to apply the new finishes and after extensive sampling, they determined that it wasn't perfect (I saw it and couldn't tell but Palios is VERY meticulous indeed!). So, they decided instead of releasing a product that THEY were not 100% happy with putting their name on, they found another company to apply the new finishes and had to go through the whole sampling process again.
The "updates" were my doing. I was basing it on the most current info that I had which of course changes on a daily basis.
I'd hate to speculate on when they are to arrive (*cough*any day now*cough*) but I don't expect it to be much longer at all.
Hope this helps

Just out of curiosity, have you tried wiping the cutting edges with a Q-tip soaked in alcohol? If not, try it. You might not have to send it back. Otherwise, just send it to Palio, and they'll take care of you.
