I suggest a forum dedicated for our love of the bean (BOTB) if you will. We have so many knowledgable folk here that love coffee so why not share our experiences in it's own little niche. Bean reviews, roasting techniques, coffee/cigar experiences, health related issues of coffee drinking would all be included. Coffee and cigars go together so well that it would be nice to have its own little niche in our community.

Very cool...I would love to see the community's opinion on this type of forum.

I vote yes, it would keep the information in a designated area so it would be easier to read up on it.

I would rather see a new group for food and drink with subforums: alcohol, food, coffee/tea

Super idea Shawn. Now that I'm roasting my own and loving the results, a place to share ideas and discoveries would be great. And I think Josh also has a great idea, coffee as a subset of a general food and drink forum.

Now that sounds like some good organization

Yep. This gets my vote.
Not a bad idea Shane. And I like Josh's idea.
We already have a section dedicated to coffee.

I guess that the fact that it's coupled with alcohol it gets lost. Sorry, just an idea.

So this would seperate Café from Libations?
Sounds good to me.

Yea it just seems to get lost. Honestly, I don't even remember it's here half the time. Maybe the seperation would stimulate more discussion about our other passion.
I guess I am the odd man out, so to speak. Libations works fine for me.

Its a common trait. As you get older your mind starts to decline  and you forget things. This is very common if you participated in the 60's and 70's smoking of alternate products.:skew:
Do you think I should change it to say coffee instead of cafe maybe?
I like Joshua's idea of adding a food category; post recipes, etc.

Yea...maybe that would help. We just don't get a whole lot of coffee discussion. I think people forget it's here. And I agree about the whole food thing. I love to cook and I know Derek is supposed to be a terrific cook. I'm sure there are a ton more.
I think that would help somewhat, Eric. A new group would definitely seperate it more and not get it lost with sports/technology, etc.

We already have a coffee forum, it's under Libations and Cafe. More than half the posts on the first page of that forums are about coffee. There's even a sticky that has to do with roasting. If you don't see a lot of coffee discussion, why don't you start some? When I click "New Posts" I always see posts in the Libations forum, so I don't think they're getting lost anywhere.
This just seems like a solution looking for a problem.

I don't know why you're sorry. There's nothing to apologize for.
"Everybody's doing it, why don't you agree" isn't a very good argument position. Reasons why this forum should exist would be a better argument position.
I think it's an unnecessary subdivision of forums where a perfectly good forum already exists.
How about a tea forum? A beer one? Port? Red Wine? Red Wine from California? Red Wine from Northern California?
I haven't heard any good arguments for it that can't be solved by just posting in the Libations and Cafe forum.
I just don't think the system is broken. I don't go walking around with a hammer looking for a nail, that's the government's racket

If the issue is visibility, perhaps a name change is more appropriate.
Change Cafe to Coffee or something else, to make it clearer.

I think that's what we are saying. I personally didn't know it existed until about a month ago. Maybe a simple name change would suffice. It was merely an idea.

I agree on a name change. I didn't really know what cafe was suited for :dunno:

I have been following along and just wanted to share my feelings.
I think it would most useful and accurate to have the following categories:
music
technology
firearms
sports
coffee
libations (i.e. beer, wine etc)
food and cooking
I would welcome a food and cooking section. I have a feeling that several of you are great cooks and have alot to share. I think that those that appreciate cigars and their nuances also appreciate wine and cooking and coffee... etc. It just makes sense to have the sections available and not lumped together. I do not know about the technologic ramifications of overextending the amount of separate sections or even if it is an issue. I suspect that it is not but just that people don't want to have redundancies in the system.
just my 2 cents...

Oh, and I voted yes. Doesn't matter if it's a new forum all together or a name change. I have to admit that I missed the Cafe reference to coffee specifically and related it more to kind of a discussion area. Yeah, I know.... there are sharper knives in the drawer....!
