I'm posting this pretty early as I will be in LA (my home town!) from April 13th through the 17th.

What I want to know are where the cool cigar lounges are and if anyone would like to meet up for some smokes and drinks.

'LA is a massive town dude.'

That it is!

I'll most likely be staying near the Convention Center downtown (i have to present some research data at a cancer meeting that will be held at the CC), though I haven't booked a room yet. I'm looking at the Omni and The New Otani hotels.

Thanks Chuck, I can give more specifics later...

Your really going to be in the heart of LA. Lots within 10 miles. The best if you can get in is the Grand Havana Room. Its private but if your in with any major B&M, they can usually get you in. Otherwise:

Buena Vista Cigar Club
9715 Santa Monica Blvd (Cross Street: Roxbury Drive)
Beverly Hills, CA 90210-4201
3102738100

Small socialable cigar lounge with booze. $5.00 if you smoke your own.

Cuban Seed Cigar CO
8851 1/2 W Sunset Blvd
West Hollywood, CA 90069-2107
3108540353
Very nice lounge and selection

Nazareth's Fine Cigars
350 N Canon Dr Ste 22
Beverly Hills, CA 90210-4792
3102715863

Great cigar store.

Restaurants
The Bel Air up on Stone Canyon allows cigars on their patios. This is the old hang out of the stars. Thats the only one close. Arnie had a place in Santa Monica called Shatzi's but I haven't been there in years.

Well, I arrive in L.A. at 11 AM. From there, check in at hotel and then I have the whole day free. Also, have the entire day Saturday free.

Saturday night I'm having dinner with the boss but I am free the rest of the evenings through the 17th.

We'll have to coordinate something.

Uh:smile: Not exactly a cigar bar but they freely let you smoke cigars there...Its called Foreplay  The are around LAX is pretty industrial. Let me do some thinkin. Up the beach about 30 minutes on the PCH is Mr. Bones, a small cigar store with a most execllent veiw and location (the beach). Very small selection.

Greg

Yeah, all of the hotels near the convention center are booked from the 14-18. The annual American Association for Cancer Research meetings will be held then and over 50,000 scientists and vendors will be present.

Anyhow, meeting at the airport would be great! Saves me a cab ride, though my company would pay for that.

I'm interested in the replies to this. I will be in LA the week prior. I'm checking out a friend who is performing at the Roxy, but post show I gots to get to a hotel near the airport...I have a very early AM flight. If there's a place near the airport to snag a cool nightcap and cigar, I'm all ears.

THE CONGA ROOM
5364 Wilshire Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA
213-938-1696
For many years, Southern California has been billed as being bland and not taking advantage of the cultural diversity that it is blessed with...not anymore. We had the pleasant experience of visiting The Conga Room in early June, which features fine, eclectic Latin cuisine, top-notch Latin entertainment, beautiful and friendly people, and a very comfortable cigar bar. The Conga Room is the braintrust of real estate developer Brad Gluckstein and is backed by some celebrity heavyweights, including Jimmy Smits, comedian Paul Rodriguez, baseball star Bobby Bonilla, and the beautiful and luscious actress, Jennifer Lopez. Every room is impeccably designed and there is a comfortable and unique ambience felt thoughout. We had the privilege of sampling an assortment of appetizers, including coconut shrimp, and enjoyed a couple of traditional Cuban drinks--the Mojito and Cuba Libre. Following dinner, we adjorned to the Cigar Bar which features nice, soft velvet chairs and beautiful artwork. They have a limited selection of cigars for sale and/or you have the option of bringing your own. After making a number of new friends, we went over to the stage area (separate cover charge) to see the famed Cuban band, Bamboleo. The sound system is superb, the layout of the room is perfect (stage up front, with a huge bar area in the back), and the customers seemed to get into the flow of the concert with everyone having a great time...(Southern California's are noted for being pretentious and having an 'attitude', but none of that was evident at The Conga Room, as there was a good mix of people and socializing taking place). The Conga Room is located in The Miracle Mile District of Los Angeles, about 10 minutes west of downtown and about 10 minutes east of Beverly Hills. We highly recommend visiting this spot if your travels take you in this area and please note a strict dress code (no jeans) is enforced. You may also wish to brush up on your salsa and merengue!!

I'm at an internet cafe right now.
Yesterday, Jeff, Check and I had an awesome day......
After landing at LAX Jeff was there to pick me up and I was greeted with an ice cold Corona and an Anejo, talk about a nice greeting! Then it was off to the beach where we finally ended up at Duke's in Malibu for some beachside beers and excellent fish tacos, and to wait for Chuck.
Chuck decided to blow off work early and decided to join us on the deck about a half hour after we arrived and he got himself some lunch and we all sat there under the warm sun taking in the sea breeze, the amazing view and the Malibu Barbies...yesssir!!!
From there it was to the 1000 Oaks cigar shop for cigars and Chimay...great cigar store!! This is where Jeff, after 3 chimays and a 2004 HdM El literally burned his finger on a LGC Medaille D'Or No.1, it was in full blister the next day.
After enjoying several cigars it was back to the hotel to check in and get dressed for dinner.
The concierge led us to what would turn out to be one of the finest steak experiences I have encountered in quite some time. It ws one of thos old-fashioned steakhouses with dim lights and tons of leather and wood. Chuck ordered to coulette, Jeff had the marinated sirloin and I had the porterhouse, all cooked nmedium rare and served with a nice zinfandel.
After dinner it was back to the hotel for more cigars on the terrace and some 140 proof moonshine whiskey provided by Jeff. I left Chuck and Jeff at 11 because I was beat, but they stayed until 1 am finishing their cigars.
In the morning it was off to breakfast in Santa Monica where we literally had breakfast ON the beach with our bare feet in the sand eating eggs, avacados and sausage while looking at honeys jogging by on the boardwalk. It was stunning.
Later we had cigars by the seaside watching surfers....what a way to start the day.
...time is running out on my card but pictures will be posted later.

Awesome time. These guys are herf monsters. Yall come back now, ya hear.

just in case you're fretting, my finger is fine. big ole honk'n blister, and no complaints! an absolutely incredible time! which was good, cuz the drive home sucked! 2hrs stretched to 3 1/2. and i did not dare light a smoke as i was just a bit toxic! these dudes put me through my paces, and them some! except when Chuck payed some poor bellhop to pour Greg into his room :bouncetau

unbelievable strokes of genius, from lunch in the sunshine at Malibu's , to the Thousand Oaks Cigar shop (how about that Chipay!). and the steakhouse, and the Zinfandel, and the monte.... and, to forego Bob's Big Boy, to find a sign on the side of PCH, saying "breakfast, lunch, dinner...." and to hide in the rocks, so we didn't get caught smoking, er-uh, cigars!! ha!!! Complete insanity!!
