Does anyone know if cigar art is copyrighted, what I am talking about is the old cigar posters, labels, etc that are no longer made? How do I find out?

Anyone know who I would contact to find out if it is copyrighted... I am talking the turn of the 20th century stuff... nothing new... most if not all of the companies are no longer in business so would that make them up for reproducing in a different format?

good question... but my guess is that if it was produced by a company even years ago, you cannot reformat it and sell it for your own profit...
I know that someone on Ebay sells a disk that has lots of this art.
For old books, the copyright expires, that's why plenty of classics are available online for free download.
If you are going to try to use it for a commercial purpose there must be attorneys that specialize in copyright law.
There most certainly are those kinds of attorneys--do a search for "Intellectual Property Attorneys" in your area.
And yes, it's a good idea to consult with one if you're talking about doing this for business/profit purposes.
Got me but you can usually find tons on ebay
