Well my group number was called and I'm off to do my civic duty. This is only the 3rd time out of 15 where I've actually been told to report.
Time to find a good book to bring ...

Last time I had jury duty, after 5 hours of calling out groups of people there were 20 or so people left. They said that the rest of us could go home and that they would give out proof of attendance for our employer's by number. I was the second to last person to leave the lobby.![]()
The one and only time I git called for jury duty I brought my book and prepared for a long boring day and was called to a courtroom 30 minutes after we got there. I was the last potential excused at the very end of the day. By that time I WANTED to be on the jury.

I've read that lawyers often say to their clients,"Just remember that your fate will be decided by 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty!"
I just did my duty two weeks ago. At least two years until I get called again.

Didn't get a chance to speak today. We were finally called in to the courtroom at 11:00am, sworn in and then the judge gave everyone the rest of the day off, except those that needed to apply for a hardship excuse as this trial is expected to go about 2 weeks. About 30% of the people stayed to plead with the judge to let them out - but I'm sure I'll see most of them back tomorrow.
