Default Where am I at cigar wise

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to this and these are the cigars I've found and enjoy. I'm curious where I am in terms of premium cigars and if I'm even at that point yet. Here is what I have, please let me know.

These are all premium handmade sticks, which is good. "Smoke what you like, like what you smoke." If you want suggestions of what to try, then there are others much more experienced than I who might be able to help you out with specific sticks that have similar flavor profiles to the ones that you currently enjoy.

My only concern for you based on this picture is your storage situation...are you storing your cigars in a regular cigar box with a humipack? I can pretty much guarantee you that won't be sufficient to keep your sticks nice unless you smoke then within 2 weeks or so.

I'd suggest at least sticking this box into a large tupperware with the lid closed tight--that will help you maintain the humidity better. If you have storage questions, this board is the place to be. They helped me get a great set-up.

    Welcome!

Enjoying cigars is not about getting to some specific point, or learning to like the cigars that other aficionados like. Smoke what you enjoy! The cigars you have are a great start. Try to figure out what flavors you like the most, and then branch out a bit. The reviews here are a good starting point. If you list some of the cigars you particularly enjoy (and why you like them), I'm sure the BOTL here will come up with some suggestions of other sticks you might like.

I'm actually using one of those arto fuente humdipaks those big ziplock bag that you put the cigars in. I want to start making one of those tupperware humidors but haven't been able to come across a good write up.

Cigars are like opinions. There are many level sof cigars, Some are agreat, some are ok, some suck. The adventure is finding those you like and smoke them. !

Okay, here are a link to get you started:

tupperdor - setup questions from a newbie

    Basically all you need is:
    1) A tupperware (personally, I'd suggest one large enough to store s a few cigar BOXES in--I keep all my cigars in cedar cigar boxes in a tupperware, though others just put them in without boxes).

    2) A humidification system (try Heartfelt beads, do a search here they're one of our sponsors. They have small tubes with beads that are pretty cheap and will take care of 200 sticks or so.)

    3) A digital hygrometer to keep tabs on things until you get it regulated to your liking

    4) Cigars!

Check out those links, then feel free to ask any questions you have. I and others will be happy to assist. I just set up my first on in July (2nd in August, 3rd in September...oh boy...).

First bit of advice: buy a BIG bin!

Buy a large enough Tupperware container to hold your cigars. Insert a Boveda pack and your cigars and close the lid tight, keep out of direct light. Done.

Thats the best write up I've seen.

It really is that simple, sportsmedjosh. But I'd really start thinking about a coolordor, instead of tupperware. You're going to fill up tupperware super quick.

    Dude,
Many good comments here. Sealing in tupperware is a great idea.

No offense but your sticks look beat. Wrapper can be very fragile and if you move them around a lot they can nick and tear causing burn problems. Treat your cigars like you would treat fresh eggs. Watch your humidity and temp. Buy a small hygrometer from one of our sponsers to this.

I agree with Chuck, some of those cigars look beat up. As he said, treat them like eggs, and try not to handle them too much. The less you move them around, the less likely any damage will occur. And Wade is dead on, buy a tupperware container, add a boveda, hygrometer and cigars and you're done.

Some of those cigars are beat up and thats how I got those ones for free. One of my buddies is a rep for that company and had to take them back and issue them credit. I figured it was a nice gesture and a in between smoke.

The ones that I purchased are the ones with the white bands, the one in the wooden box.
