    Default Do you purge?

Curious to see how many Bothers do this.

The idea of purging is to get rid of the smoke that gets trapped between the ash and the head of the cigar by carefully blowing it out (the reverese of drawing ). Some beleive that this smoke can get "stale" and can adversely affect the flavor of the cigar. Purging this smoke allows a more pure, true taste of the cigar's flavors.

    Yes?
    No?
    Thoughts?

i ceertainly do if I feel the cigar has taken an ugly turn, also if I've got to stop smoking and won't be back for a while. So I purge it to get the old smoke out og the stick before it goes out. It make the re-light much better.

I generally smoke a cigar slow if I have not smoked it before, with my regular smokes, sometimes a bit faster. I never purge, not by a pre planned method, I just smoke the cigar. I have wanted to try the Gordon Mott blogged three match method of lighting the cigar before clipping it, interesting story, just keep forgetting to do it upon light up, I have never worried about stale smoke in the cigar.

Lately I've been purging more frequently during the 2nd half, as I smoke quickly and find it helps maintain flavor and keeps it from burning too hot

I will if the stick is harsh or burning hot. Mainly if I am not enjoying a stick I'll give it a blow and see if it improves.
