    Default BBQ charcoal/wood storage

Whats the best container to store charcoal in as well as various woods for smoking? I plan on buying 4-5 bags of charcoal and a bunch of different woods for smoking.

The one I have is ten years old... No rust. Always kept under an awning or patio roof... But still outside in south Dakota and Arizona.

As for the wood... No advice. I just started getting into using it.

I'm a propane guy, but my wood lives in the grill cabinet...(btw, I could've completely gone in another direction, but kept it clean...lol)

Any good recommendations for smoking wood? I have mesquite that I'm using now and would like to try the whisky wood that char-broil advertises.

Just got a new grill this season and it's perfect for smoking so this is my first foray into the art.

I went with two of these, about 30 bucks total for the 2 of them. I keep my chrcoal in one and my smoking wood(s) in the other.

I keep my lump charcoal in this

in my basement. You guys are fancy

as far as what woods to smoke with. Mesquite, is REALLY strong so if you like that really smokey taste stay with Mesquite or try Hickory.

I like mine a little milder so I use a lot of cherry.

also, remember, you don't want huge clouds of smoke pouring out of your smoker. To get the really great flavor you need "thin blue smoke" that is almost hard to see.

Hickory works great as well as any fruitwood. I have some apple wood that gives a light smoky flavor. I also like to use sassafras wood, VERY tasty. Mesquite is too strong for my liking, but if you like it that's all that matters!

I've got the same thing. Got a big one for my wood charcoal, and a smaller one for my smoking wood.
