    Default Pots and Pans

    For my more culinary-equipped friends. What are you all using pots and pans-wise? Everything I have is non-stick. This makes deglazing almost impossible. I've made some decent sauces in them, but it's always hit or miss. So what do you suggest? Obviously I'm not looking to break the bank here. I'll just be picking up a couple of saute pans.

    We have the full array of Towncraft stainless cookware. I actually like using it, but my wife doesn't. We also have a couple of cast iron skillets we use. Towncraft will, however, break the bank. She wanted it, so we got it.

    i use kitchen-aid. whenever ican get some sparechange going im going to get a set of all-clad.

    Buy an All-Clad saute pan and saucier. They are THE best, and they will outlast you. For these two, you're looking at $300, but you will never need to replace them.

    Calphalon makes a great alternative.

    My wife and I have the Calphalon Contemporary set.... it's hard anodized and oven safe with great heat distribution.

    Have the same set and they are the cats ass! Also have 3 or 4 non stick calphalon pans too for when needed. A bit pricey up front but last forever and if u have an issues...just take to bed bath and beyond and they will swap em for ya.

    I have numerious All-Clad and LeCreuset pots/pans and can assure you they will outlast you and build quality is second to none (but its a bit of a investment). For example, my mother gave me two LeCreuset pans she bought over 20 years ago and there is not a single thing wrong with them after 20+ years of use.

    I like the classic All-Clad stainless steel, easy to maintain, can go in the dishwasher (at least I do) and its the cheapest line they have.

    We have a calphalon and cuisinart sets that we use daily plus a few all-clad pieces.

    I would rate them as
    all-clad > cusinart > calphalon

    The all-clad is the most expensive of the bunch and the other two are close in price and in performance.

    I do think I prefer stainless over non-stick. I like the heat distribution and searing on s/s pans.

    I have a complete set of Swiss Diamond, some Calpholon and two All Clad pans (when I need a reactive pan) for the stove top. And although you can use the Swiss Diamond in the oven, I prefer my antique cast iron Dutch ovens and skillets.

    Swiss Diamond is awesome.
    9 out of 10 voices in my head say, "Pull the trigger!".

    We have a Calphalon ss set we bought several years ago and it's still going strong.

    Hah. I hope you have a woman that cooks then! If you've got a great cook in a woman hang on to her and congrats. Neither my wife nor I where ever big into learning to cook. I LOVE food, and the wife still has no interest in learning to cook, so it's left to me. OH, and she's a vegetarian. I want meat, so again, it's left to me.

    Oh, and if you are ever down here with your girl when I'm smokin' up some Brisket I'll make sure she gets some. You can have a salad.
