    Default Camcorders 2.0

Searched and found the last camcorder threads are from 2008.

So what's the story in recent days? With everyone and their mother on YouTube, I'm sure there should be tons of camcorders in daily use. (Or are most people using webcams now? I want one to take on vacation and for my wife to use in her travels.)
I'm looking for a quality camera that has:
    - HD quality video (720P or better)
    - 10X optical zoom or better
    - good battery life
    - uses flash memory cards
    - compact / easy to use
    - under $400
    - I'll be using with a PC

My search thus far has me leaning toward a Sony HDR-CX190 for $258 (Amazon). But there are only 15 reviews and 4 are quite negative.

Actually, I would be quite interested to hear what others have to say on this as well. With my first little one on the way, I'm in the market to buy a camcorder. Also looking for everything listed.
Ok, hand over the cigars and nobody gets hurt...

I use my t3i for most recording needs, but I have been in the hunt for a IR/NV cam

I am betting most people use their smartphones. Generally most good phones are 720p or better. Either that or a Flip cam.
