Paul (smokinbodybuilder) and I were inspired by a recent review by Justin (Jolietilfire) and Warren (W.B.) where they did a dual review write-up on BOTL. With the upcoming BOTL HERF being hosted by Casa de Montecristo (http://casademontecristo-chicago.com/) we thought it would be appropriate to revisit one of the B&M’s two Limited Edition cigars that were released on August 5, 2011. There are actually a few boxes still available if any BOTL are interested in picking up a few this weekend.

prelight and uncut impressions
Jdog – Very few veins with the classic Pepin cap. The cigar still has a slight ammonia aroma.
SBB – Giving off a sweet cedar, pine nuts, and a really bad blue cheese dressing aroma.
1st third flavor and description
Jdog – Quite a bit of pepper initially but dies down about a 1/8 inch into the stick. Has a nice syrupy and woody sweetness taste. The burn line is nearly perfect. The pepper is not even present about an inch into the stick, which is surprising to me that it could drop off so quickly. Getting a bit of a cinnamon as I approach the 2nd half of the stick… we both agree that it is a medium body cigar.
SBB – Sweet cedar taste to start. Then picked up some ginger bread but can’t honestly decide. Even getting some semi sweet chocolate taste. I remember not liking this cigar at all when it came out, but down time has done the cigar wonders so far.
2nd third flavor and description
Jdog – Flavor profile hasn’t changed much in the 2nd third but getting a bit of leather which may have been present before and just noticed it. Pepper is returning a little bit. It’s an enjoyable smoke.
SBB – Still getting some of the similar flavors from the first third: semi sweet chocolate. It has been pretty consistent.
final third flavor and description
Jdog – I’m really enjoying the final third. The woody with a very slight cinnamon taste is prevalent. The slight pepper I’m getting complements the flavors perfectly.
SBB – Sweetness is gone and taste a lot of dark chocolate.
overall
Jdog – It’s an enjoyable cigar with a nice flavor profile. It has a somewhat complex flavor profile, but not complex from the standpoint that the flavor profile changes as the smoke progresses. Age has definitely helped out this release. I really want to revisit the Oscuro now.
SBB – It’s a lot better than last and year. I liked it. I would buy a box of just these Rosados.
