Electrician Help
Moved in to a new place today and my dryer is a 4 prong and outlet is a 3 prong. A google search told me to either change cord on the dryer or update the outlet. The house is probably 30+ years old. What is the best way to do this(and the easiest/least expensive way)? Thanks for any help.
Drinking doesn't keep me from working, just being productive.
Home depot sells new cords for your dryer.
Really easy to remove and replace.
Alot easier than replacing your box on the wall as it is a 220... or so...

Take a picture of the outlet. It sounds like it is 110. (Standard) look on the back of the dryer by the model number and see what it's requirements are to run. 15 or 20a and it's voltage. 110 or 220. I would be shocked if it's 220v.... If the dryer is 110v replace the chord of the dryer to the correct 3 prong 15a or 20 amp. 20 amp has a receptacle facing sideways or downward depending on how the outlet was hung in the box. If all else fails go get a new dryer for a 150 bucks or buy one of Craigslist for 50. it will most likely be 15a and 110v and will plug right in to your existing outlet.

These guys got it. When I moved into my house, I had to do this same thing. Took 10 minutes.following the directions on the.packaging, the hardest part was taking the back panel off the dryer.
