    Default Cigar Volume

I wanted to know the volume of some different common cigar sizes. So I calculated the volume of several traditional vitolas. I listed them by increasing volume in cubic inches. Then I listed three 60 ring gauge sizes.

I just did this for my own interest. It has helped me understand the relative size of the different cigars that are out there.

Next, I might weigh some cigars on a food scale.

Posting it here just in case someone else finds it interesting.

Very cool. I think the weight thing may result in slightly more sporadic data as moisture content, roll density and other factors may cause slight fluctuations. Maybe weigh a 5r then average the results?? Either way, pretty cool!

    Thank you. Interesting.

This is likely to be an increasingly important topic/measurement to those of us scared of the tobacco nazis. I don't know the best answers yet, but we need to get in front of the defining differences between cigars and cigarettes. The feds (and states) are going to kill us, if not. Some laws use weight, others size. It may even mean the end of some cigarillo-size cigars and maybe even some PC's. But, if we stand by, we're going to get run over and all tobacco is going to be taxed at same rate. I don't know what that will equate to, but could be multiple dollars per stick easily.
