Recently, every time I light up a cigar I get a headache. Anybody else have this problem? Starting to get annoying because it ruins the stick I'm smoking and I end up setting it down and walking away.

allergies?

I havent experienced the same, but I do know if ive been around campfires with certain woods in them, that I get a pretty jacked up headache as well.

Dr. said it had to do with an allergy with a particular wood......

May not help you, but its the only thing that came to mind for me.

Sorry brotha!

How bout beyond the cigar. You in direct sunlight? Haven't eaten enough or not enough water?? Too hot? Linda weird that it would be just the cigar. If it has anything to do with the cigar, would prob be just the smoke itself. Hope you figure it out bro, definetly sucks.

I have had this happen a few times. The first times were when I was a rookie and just had too much smoke/nicotine. As my tolerance increased it only happened after smoking an insane amount of cigars.

Recently this has happened, but it was caused by sitting in the heat and not having enough water.

That is what I know, but it is by no means every time I light up. Anymore this is very rare for me.

If I smoke a lot I get a bad hangover from nicotine. That includes bad headaches. We are talking 8 to 10 cigars though. That would be my binge rate on cigar night for our club. Lol

Get some food in your stomach first.

Hydrate well before and during.

Stogie in a well-ventilated area (preferably outside) so you don't get too much 2nd-hand smoke.

Don't smoke too fast (a minute between puffs is standard)

Don't hold the cigar in your mouth between puffs, use your hand or an ashtray.

Don't draw too hard, and if you're draw is tight, lower the rH in your humidor.

Excedrine.

I agree with Nate; stay hydrated, well ventilated, and taking your time smoking the cigar. My suggestion is popping a couple of Advil (Ibuprofen) prior to smoking your cigar. Also, do not drink caffeinated drinks (i.e. coffee, tea, soda pop, energy drinks) as the caffeine may cause a headache.

I was smoking some stronger stuff and thought that might have been the problem. Last night the stick I chose was mild to medium and it still happened. I know the nicotine will affect the smoker in hotter weather so I've been smoking slower, taking 1 or 2 puffs a minute.

Headaches is a fairly common reaction to nicotine. It constricts your blood vessels, raising your BP. Listen to the advice Nate & Juyceman gave, with an emphasis on hydration. Being well hydrated is your best defense against a nicotine headache.

I did a google search for nicotine headache. The Cleveland clinic website lists three causes

1 vasoconstriction in the brain

2. Stimulation of ganglion nerves in back of throat

3. Allergy to smoke

I also know that nicotine is a stimulant, raising bp and heartrate.
