So earlier this month I took a trip up to Northern CA to see my dad. It's been at least 5-6 years since I've seen him, so it was really nice to be able to spend a week up there. If anyone's ever been to the northern part of central CA, you'll know there's not a whole lot to do. So we spent a little bit of time in my dads shop making this. It's about 6" in diameter and turned out of a piece of olive wood. We had just finished shaping it when I had to go, so my dad finished it off with some food grade wood turners finish and buffed it. I just got it back in the mail on Friday.

I figured this was the most appropriate way to break it in. My Father No.4

Me sanding, and more sanding, and then sanding again, just in case.

Nice, that is too cool! I love how it turned out, and the rustication Gives it amazing character.

Thats awesome. I had looked into doing this as Christmas gifts a few years ago and learned just how complicated it really is. Great work!

That is awesome. Enjoy the memories and be sure to get the date recorded on it so you can someday pass it down in your family, especially if you have a son.
