This thread is here to give the new guys to the forum a chance to establish credibility and earn a trader rating. The trade can either be a cigar trade or a cigar purchase.

Rules

The newbie sends his package first to establish their status as a good faith participant on this board. This is to ensure that someone doesn’t register for the simple purpose of ‘mooching’ cigars from the established members.

For trading, a newbie may send between 5 and 10 cigars, but no more than 10. It's always a good idea to have some dialogue with your sponsor about your trade. Your sponsor, however, may retaliate in any way they deem appropriate. If it’s a cash deal you will work out the details with your sponsor via PM. However, remember this is a NEWBIE trade. Please do not ask your sponsor to send specific htf sticks.

If you are busy, or foresee being busy, please wait to sign up until you are able to commit to completing your trade. The last thing we want to do here is tie up a sponsor’s time when they can be trading with another newbie.

This is a ONE TIME only trade. After completing this trade you may arrange your own trades or can participate in the blind trade thread found here... Blind Trade Thread

The Process

If you are a newbie that wants to trade or purchase, just post your interest here in the thread whether you want to do a trade or a cash deal and I will assign you a veteran sponsor when one is available.

When you are assigned a sponsor, make contact with them within 3 days or you will be removed and placed at the end of the list. If it happens a second time, you will not be allowed to participate in the NST.

*Newbies - a good idea is to make it so that when you get a PM it sends you an e-mail. Go to...
1. Settings (top right)
2. Under 'My Settings' on the left of your screen click "General Settings"
3. Scroll down a bit until you find "Receive Email Notification of new Private Messages"
Now you are set even if you forget to check in for a few days as long as you're checking your e-mail.

Post a Delivery Confirmation Number in the thread when you send your end (both newbs and sponsors please)

When your trade is complete, please post so in the thread. Pictures of the damage are always fun to see.

I try to update the thread at least every few days, but sometimes life gets in the way, so don’t panic if it's been a little longer.

Do I Qualify to be a Sponsor?

Sponsorship for a trade in the Newbie Sampler Trade (NST) is open for any BOTL member in good standing (meaning a 100% Trader Rating) with at least 6 months on the board and a minimum of 25 unique Trader Ratings OR any BOTL in good standing with at least 12 months on the board and a minimum or 15 unique Trader Ratings.

Sponsorship for a cash deal is open for any BOTL member in good standing (meaning a 100% Trader Rating) with at least 12 months on the board and a minimum of 25 unique Trader Ratings.
Cash deals are worked out via PM with your assigned sponsor. Sponsors will usually ask you what your flavor profile is/likes/dislikes and how much you are looking to spend. This is not an opportunity for you to ask for specific cigars, cuban cigars etc. After all, this is a noob trade!

*I might also make some exceptions to the rules under certain circumstances.

If you would like to be a sponsor please post in the thread that you’d like to do a trade, cash deal, or either.

I'd like to switch up to a cash deal if that's OK. I don't want to over-step and just message a member offering (see previous posts) though. Happy to wait to have a cash deal arranged. Thanks!

I'm interested in signing up as a n00b. I want to build up some trading credibility on this site. I'm still relatively new but I've done a few trades and a box split elsewhere before. Let me know.

This was not a "sponsored" or "sanctioned" trade, but JCinPA and I already knew each other from a non-cigar forum, and this is what I received from him in a recent trade. Very generous, brother. Really looking forward to the Angels Anvil 15 and Mason Dixon. Both new to me, and the rest includes some sticks that I enjoy a lot. Thanks, JC!

First, I am very glad you received the package. Second, don't start with the "Newb" thing. I have only been seriously smoking cigars since about January. You told me to include what I liked so I did. Tat black is a favorite of mine! I also am very poor at making decisions and everything looked so good... I guess that explains why there were so many. Oops

These are some custom roles I had made from a man in Miami who runs a shop called Cabana Cigars. Let me know what you think of these, everyone I've given them to seems to like them so far.

Mr. so called "Newb" also tossed in a bottle AND a can of beer.

Rest assured, the Howitzer of Justice is currently being oiled.

I am a huge beer nerd and since the package already needed an MFR I figured why the hell not fit in one of my top 5 favorite beers and also something easy to drink in case you weren't feeling too adventurous.
@jonnylieberman I hope you enjoy what I included, it was fun putting that package together.
