You happen to know what year the no.9 made it last time? I know the HE Piramide made it a couple years ago but I don't ever remember seeing any of the LPs. And I agree the HE deserved it although I think the lonsdale is that blends sweet spot.

In what world is CAO 6x60 better than a Don Carlos Beli? Oh the world where we buy spots on a list. I forgot.
Smart move before they capitalize on the ranking and raise the price to 79 cents apiece.I went out and made a box purchase!
A few thoughts:
1) I don't know how guys can look at this list and honestly think it's that bad. With the exception of 3 and the Edge, the rest all are very good (of what I've had and read about).
2) CA, like them or not, helps drive interest in the cigar world. Any publicity is good publicity. But this is all good. Sure, mostly for the inexperienced, but still, it exposes people to the culture and market. The more cigar smokers the better.
3) Although it does seem that the spots are up for bid, the fact that the entire claim to fame is that this is blind makes me think that they stand by the process. If it was discovered they have been lying, the whole thing would come crashing down.
Anyways, carry on. Smoke what you like, like what you smoke.

I didn't see it posted on their criteria this year, but watching prior year videos of the top 25 list reveal where they describe the process seemed to say they are only doing blind tests down to a certain cut level, maybe it's at the top 25, maybe a cut before that, but it seemed to me that it meant they know the brands once they get to a shorter list. I haven't smoked everything on the list but it looks good to me too. I don't get the Rocky hate though, he always makes the list at some point, and I wouldn't be surprised if half the people bashing it would like it if they were given it with the band off, although I haven't smoked one myself either.
Plus, as much as the blind testing helps, the people smoking these probably think or in some cases might even know what it is even without the band. To be in the running a cigar has to have been smoked and rated within the prior year by the magazine, and I am sure the people doing the top 25 testing are the same ones that do ratings throughout the year, so chances are they have had several of some of them already. Plus tastes vary.
Also, their ratings take in to account construction I believe too, so if they get a bad batch of the best tasting stick and it doesn't burn well or unravels or something, or a brand that has great taste but just overall poor construction it could suffer in this test somewhat unfairly. I can't imagine this part being a huge factor in the overall ranking though, but they don't quantify how different aspects of the testing factor in to the list so who knows.
It was #20 just last year (2014). If you mean top ten I am not sure if it was before.
