Hi all!! Just signed up here a few days ago and have been busy wading thru all the required newbie reading.. With that out of the way, I figured I better shuffle over here and introduce myself.. I'm a life long Houstonian (49 years) and have been smoking cigars since high school..

I stumbled across this place while looking for info on seasoning my new NewAir CC-300 cigar cooler that I got a week ago, decided to consolidate a couple of desktop humidors and have a bit of extra room for a box or two of my favorites.. :D

Now I think I'll wander around and do some more reading..:cigar:

Thanks for the welcome guys!!

After doing some more reading, I guess I better clarify my username seeing as how "CC" has a very different meaning here.. :) My username was bestowed on me years ago when I used to keep my old Chris Craft cruiser in a marina on Lake Conroe.. There were three of us on the dock whose first name was John, so we all got assigned "initials" by all the other folks to stop some of the confusion of who was who in conversations.. Since I had a Chris Craft, I became "CC", there was also a "WC" (Wellcraft) and a "SR" (Sea Ray).. The moniker stuck and its been my username on every forum that I've ever signed up for..

And since someone will end up asking, here's a pic of my "ol girl".. I've had her longer than most of my friends have had their first wives.. She's a 1978 Chris Craft 251 Catalina Express, I bought her back in 1992 and have personally overhauled and rebuilt her from the keel up..100_0510.JPG

Thank you sir!! I've added all the comforts of home to that old boat, she's got a full electric galley, A/C & heat in the cabin, and an onboard generator to power it all when out on the water.. It's been way cheaper than owning a waterfront home and the best part is when I get tired of my neighbors I can just pull up the anchor and go somewhere else..

After seeing some of the stuff y'all guys are smokin' I'm almost embarrassed to post up some of my favorite smokes.. :shame: Most of the stuff I smoke would probably fall in the "dog rocket" category around here as I'm kind of a cheap bastard when it comes to cigars.. :D My "go to" smoke for the last couple of years has been the Sam Houston line from Finck Cigar, I usually keep a box or two of Grandes on hand for my daily smokes..

Nah, smoke what you like Bro and don't worry about them being cheaper smokes... If you like them that's all that matters... Definitely stick around John and you will have much better smokes... Get in on the newb trade and I will encourage you to get in on chat when you can and meet some of the brothers... We have a really great family here you will see... :) There are quite a few brothers in Texas...

Don't get me wrong, I'm no stranger to premium smokes.. I manage a 40 pool service route thru some of Houston's more affluent neighborhoods and I have a few customers that are avid cigar smokers and know I smoke 'em too.. They're always giving me smokes from their collections to sample, one always gives me a box of premiums every year at Christmas.. Part of the reason for getting the NewAir cigar cooler was that my two desktop humis are nearing capacity and I've got a 36qt. Igloo cooler with a few boxes stored in it, I'm wanting to try to get everything in one spot..

I managed to snag an end table off of Craigslist last night for $25 to set the NewAir on and get all my accessories that I've accumulated over the years organized.. Got it set up and got all my crap rounded up and filed away, now all I have to do is wait for it to finish seasoning so I can load the sticks in it.. Damn those shelves and drawers were made from some dry wood, when I unpacked it, the wood was so pale it almost looked like that cheap ass "whitewood" they sell in the home centers.. But after being sealed up for a week with eight 84% Boveda packs inside, the wood is beginning to get a warm, golden glow to it as it soaks up some much needed moisture..
