I honestly don't care what size or shape but I'm curious; why not 14 oz? If you don't want to put that much coffee in it for fear of it getting cold, then put in 6 or 8 oz of coffee/tea. I'll drink 12 oz of coffee no problem and it's still hot.

I guess I can see a cup being too small but never too big. Enlighten me.

Maybe the big one would be too heavy? Maybe drinking "pinkie out" would look silly with that big of a mug? Maybe 14 is an unlucky number for him? Just throwing out random ideas.

True, true. Maybe their hands are super tiny? Maybe the bigger mug has a bigger opening which smears their makeup?

It feels ridiculous drinking 8oz of coffee out of a ginormous mug. They cool faster when half full. They don't fit in a cupboard as well. They're awkward to handle compared to a normal mug. There are a lot of rational reasons.

If you want a big mug to drink beer out of, get a stein (we should totally do a BOtL beer stein!!!).

There seem to be fairly strong feelings regarding large vs normal size mugs here... Clint, what are the chances we could hammer out a color scheme and then do a split run of both Pepin and one of the bigger sizes?

I agree with the majority of what Derek said below, coupled with the fact that I think the 14+oz mugs are some of the ugliest shapes of the bunch.

Also, I like being confrontational. Especially with chat regulars. :)

I agree with most of what you said, but why does it have to be strictly the Pepin or a bigger size? (where's my thinking guy emoji)

Beer my man...beer. And the cup looks sweet lol.
We've had BOTL beer glasses in the past brah, get with the times. This is for a coffee mug.

I know - but to my knowledge those aren't available anymore...

Regardless of size it will be a cool cup. For me personally I would rather have a larger cup.

Sounds like a good plan! Offer two sizes.

Spring strong sweet tall green grass grow...
Loving all the input, but we're only doing one design. We'll never make everyone happy, but I thought it would be more fun to get the membership involved instead of just Eric or myself picking something and saying "Here it is, like it or not." This lets people be a part of the process. If we do two, then why not three? Or four? There will be one design, and based on how it works out, maybe we'll do it again another time. As nominations slow, I'll get things compiled into a couple polls and we'll see where this ends up.

I have a 10oz Deneen mug and its too small imo... after your 8oz of coffee, if that's all you need, you barely have room for milk or cream. brings the liquid right to the brim. I also have the 14oz DWCC Valhalla mug and I love it. My coffee has no prob staying warm. Also less trips back for another fill up. If you drink hot choc out of it in the winter, it will also allow room for some marshmallows and whip cream (make it for the wife)...

I think we have a tendency to take @cgraunke's dedication to the cause for granted. One style would be more than sufficient, and I'd imagine most of us will buy it anyway even if not our first choice.

I believe Deneen (per their website) charges at least a portion up front for a process like this. Maybe to streamline voting we can have folks put down a deposit on their mug ($20 for example), this way we avoid random voting and opinions from those who don't intend to buy. Just a thought.

It's your world though, Clint, we're just living in it.

Couldn't agree more! Thanks, @cgraunke!

I would put a deposit down if/when we come to that. Whatever I can do to try and make this daunting task easier for you, Clint.
